Never did understand getting a plate that states exactly what is on the back of the vehicle. Saw an Escalade with "ESCALADE" plate - Duh! Like the 15 other Caddilac badges weren't obvious enough. I prefer plates that are more creative - not so creative you need to be a code breaker to figure them out - but something that is relevant to the car. On my NSX I have "JPN 4RE" as it was originally known at the Japanese Ferrari. I have also started getting plates based upon race tracks that make sense for my cars. On the RX7 is "SUZUKA" - the Japanese F1 track and sometimes considered the RX7 home track. For the 355 Challenge I got "FIORANO" - pretty self explanatory for any Ferrari guy.

The only downside I see to a vanity plate is if you cut someone off in traffic the plate will likely be easy to remember. If they see it in a parking lot later it might get keyed. However, if your car is unique in the area you live probably not an issue as it would be pretty obvious it was the same car.

My car came with a plate " NVR L8" I saw a picture posted on fchat of this very car before but I cant pinpoint where it is. I would love to know who the previous owner is.

A friend was being given the following obnoxious plate ideas that would guarantee everyone hates him:

I have ENZO on mine. I'm not really a personalized plate person, but it was on my previous 328 so I just transferred it. LUCA might be more appropriate for the 355.

I recently sold my paper converting company. We made, among other things, toilet paper.

Had I kept the company, the plate would have been:

    LOTSA TP

My plate is "IRARREF". It's Ferrari spelt backwards. It's nice as it's a little different and my dad had it on his Mondial 28 years ago. I also love "GUILTY".

+1. It is also easier for other drivers to remember your plate when some spirited driving is going on. Might not be a good thing.

It's for when driving around a screaming Ferrari doesn't yell "look at me" loud enough. See also extra SF shields and super loud exhausts.

And Challenge wheels on a non - Challenge car.

Just kidding. I love those wheels. Would love a set for my car.

If only I could find one that wasn't so stupidly priced.

What we have discovered here is that a lot of people have a different view on plates.

Maybe that's why they are called "personalised"

Over here, plates which have some relevance to the car are much less wanky than plates which refer (in some way) to the owner. Or plates that need deciphering. Those plates tend to be on "bogan" cars. Look it up if you don't know what I mean.
But by far the most valuable are historic plates, which are worth more than the car in a lot of cases.

Obviously the opposite is the case in the US, where plates that reference the car are seen as pointless, and more personal ones are applauded.

    Fine. :)

'95's or converted road cars after '95 can be, though post '95 cars are difficult to get to pass state inspection in some areas due to lack of federally mandated obd2.

The 348s and 355s had vin#s so most states it's easy to just register them as any other car. I don't believe the 360 and on was given a vin # from the factory and are much harder to get on the street.

My 95 B plate finally arrived. I think I'll take the front plate (which I won't have on the car) and paint it black with red letters for display.

Custom plates are fine as long as they're not something d0uch3y.
