Is the stock battery tender supplied with F430 a reliable unit to use, or should I wire in a plug for a Battery Tender like I use on my other cars?

The Ferrari battery charger is just a ctek 3300 charger privately labeled for Ferrari. You can buy a ctek 3300 for like $60 I guess and you should be good to go.

I would get a "battery tender" trickle charger. Had it on my F430 and my 458 Italia without issues. always kept the battery full and conditioned. The factory charger is a POS.

Battery tenders are fine, ctek makes a great product also I've had them on all my cars and they do a great job maintaining full charge and providing level indicators plus they can restore charge to a flat battery and work w AGM, optima, odyssey, and many more types of cells.

Either way you'd be good just make sure you maintain your battery as they will go flat on you.

I agree that CTek's work extremely well. The gentleman that sold me my Scud had hard-wired the car to take actual Ctek chargers. I believe Ferrari's come with a proprietary connections that makes it difficult to use chargers besides the ones that come with the car.

The previous owner of my car warned me to use his new connection and to get a CTek 3300 (or better) because he had very bad luck with the factory charger keeping the battery stable over the winter months.

I do believe that Ferrari uses CTek for their OEM chargers but I held my CTek 3300 up next to the Ferrari charger that came with my Scud and the Ferrari charger was only about half of the size of the CTek 3300.

I've also had great luck with CTek's 4.3 charger. Can find them on the net for $65. Well worth it!

I personally wouldn't count on the OEM charger to keep your battery healthy. Nothing worse than looking forward to driving your F Car and discovering it has a bad battery.

    Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info. I have used "battery tender" brand chargers on my Corvettes for years with no problems. My newly purchased 2007 430 coupe has a Ferrari stock charger which looks as though it has never been used, along with tool kit and air compressor. The car had only 8900 miles total. If these units are reliable then I'll unpack it and use it.

Thanks again for the additional info. I live in St. Pete Fl., so the car won't be stored for the winter. I plan to enjoy and drive the wheels off it!! I'm too darn old to "save" any more cars. However I do need to return to Ky. 2 or 3 times each year for 30 days or so, and that is when I need to use a charger. No more long winter storage, thank goodness!
