That certainly looks easy to work on. Lol. Good think there is the client I program.

What an epic looking car. I have something new to lust after. God I wish they would go to LeMans with a LMP1. I am really surprised some multibillionaire hasn't made the budget happen.

much like GT2 458s. Not sure what the benefit is of having the ECU in the engine area for a race car...

Good point. Mine almost got hit by stones that penetrated the engine bay on my 458C. Glad it didn't hit the ECU!

My many thanks to Paul Tan for such wonderful images.

Based on this picture of the exhaust, is it safe to assume that the chassis type and/or engine type of the FXXK is F150 XX?

The benefit is that it separates money from clients when silly design causes damage...

Another thing I truely don't understand is why Ferrari and others don't use
F1 planking/skid pads as we do. You do sell fewer replacement parts but you
do still have a splitter after 24 hours arond the Karrasell.

F150 was LaF's code name. The newest XX is based on it, so FXXK is official name but F150XX is internal name. LaF engine has had code F140. Got to look into engine bay of FXX-K, maybe it helps.

Do the skid pads disturb the air flow over them to any degree?

This is incorrect, the Enzo, has the engine F140 B. The internal model designation for modern Ferraris is shared with their internal engine code designation. For example the F355 is the F129 as is it's engine code either B or C depending on whether its 2.7 or 5.2.

Please remember the FXX K is not a race car ... it will be used on fine and perfect days for a bit of fun and to make the super rich feel happy ... nothing more.

    Still awesome though :)

    Thank you very much, TOOL:p.
But give at least the answer on the OP topic/question :) if know you can "help". IIRC he didn't ask about Enzo.

From Enzo till now V12s in Ferraris were F140-family-type. LaFerrari's (aka F150) engine is F140-type (FE). It haven't changed to F150..etc even considering they have made LaF hybrid powered. The ICE portion of the powertrain is being named here.
My example was simple - "F150" car has got "F140"-coded engine,so the naming is not the same.

PS. Have found that: F12 engine - F140FC, LaF - is 140FE, According to your info, it should have had F150-coded engine because it is of course F150 car model. Which info is true then?

Strange reply to a simple straightforward question.

The placement of the ECU is not a haphazard decision. If the engineers put it where they did, then they did it for a reason and who are we to question that process, or for that matter, does it really matter?

By the way, XX car do get used in atrocious conditions too, which makes it interesting as it allows the development of traction and stability controls that will be found on road cars of the future and that don't get developed as easily on homologated racing cars because of the limitation imposed by regulations.

An XX may not be a racing car out and out for all these reasons. But it does carry pure Ferrari DNA and THAT is truly unique.

The Kappa weighs slightly (50kgs) more than a GTE, has twice the power and is as quick. If it isn't a racing car, then THAT is really impressive!!! It also has a V12 that screams.....and no one else has that

Your description is what I had imagined too, until I joined the program - and now I can tell you it's nothing of the sort. Rain or shine, often running faster laps than the accompanying race leaders in the Challenge series - these XX cars get used hard. None more so than Peter, who I see also posted.

I suggest you stop by and view one of the Corse Clienti events next time we're in your area. I suspect you'll come away with a different impression.

Finally, obNote: race cars come in many forms. The XX cars are more different from their production counterparts than (say) a Ferrari 458 Challenge or McLaren 650 Sprint , and less different than a 458 GT2. To my eyes, a car engineered and used to run race tires and 10/10ths track driving reliably and safely is a race car regardless of its origins.
