Hi Don, I am one of the cars listed by Garrick from ICCSW. I will be bringing a navigator along with me on this so there will be two of us for lunch. I also posted the invitation on the Lone Star Chapter of AROC on the Alfa Romeo Bulletin Board so we may still get a few Alfa's to show up. I also extended an invitation to participate to the DFW Classic Fiat Club via their Facebook page. Hopefully we will get a few more Alfas and Fiats to show up.

    Regards,

    Jeff B.

I'll have a +1, I'd be shot if I didn't bring a kid. Doubtful we'll stay for lunch, so don't add in me or my convoy.

Well this is a fine "how do you do", the people that were going to be our end point and donation place just cancelled their participation. So probably most of the run is rubbish and Carolyn and I will be very busy for the next 8 days scouring the countryside. You have no idea.........!

I just want to reiterate, it was not the recipients that cancelled it was the people that were going to have us on their property. I am still pretty amazed! They had a shop on their premises that would have gleaned some money and I am sure the restaurant right around the corner is thrilled that we won't be there.

You folks have no idea how mad I was last Thursday at about 5:00PM. I had just finished talking with the third person that day that could not make a decision about hosting us and then then facility manager calls me and gives me this really weak excuse that they had three events on the Toy Run day. Pretty interesting that he was not aware of that as of that morning!
Any how I got home and Carolyn had been on the prowl for a place and came up with a great idea. So we went to Dallas Motor Sports and re-ran the route with some changes and ended up at the new place without a lot of drama.
SO WE ARE BACK IN BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One thing that we did find was that a section of road had been torn up for about 100 feet. It is not missing just one of those dumb deals where they tear up one lane for a short distance, re-pour the road bed and then put some gravel over it. We will rerun the route Thursday late and see if there are any more problems.

So at this count we have 51 cars and 72 people. This pretty good but it would really be nice to get to about 80 cars. Remember the McKinney C.A.S.A. has right at 350 kids under their supervision and it would be really great for all of these deserving kids to get something for Christmas.
All of you people that have contacts with the various clubs talk this thing up. We have plenty of parking at the end and at the start so we can accommodate a lot of vehicles. We have one week to bump this thing up. I will print maps based on the number that have signed up for the run via the F-chat list and I will do that on Friday evening. So that leaves us 5 full days prior to map printing.
The record run was with the Justin FD. I had 100 maps printed, I gave away the note map and we had 3 more go on the run, so that 105. So right now we are way short of that.
F.Y.I. When we went to Dallas Motor Sports yesterday from the corner of Coit and Geo. Bush to DMS it took us 30 minutes. Just to give you a time frame. Also remember to take the North 78 Wylie exit off of Geo. Bush.

Well the MINI is out due to steering / suspension issues. I've been going back & forth trying to get this fixed & think I'm just about done with the car. It's become nothing more than a money pit. It was fun when it ran without issues.

I might have a seat as a navigator but not sure yet.

I bet a lot of folks have been down than road, Will. You need to drag it to a place when everyone can pay a fee to blow it full of holes. You can recoup some of your money!

That did cross my mind the evening, I attend the Mini Coopers owners club meeting / holiday party tonight at Coopers BBQ in the stockyards only to have gearbox related mechanical failure when I arrived. It got me there but didn't get me home.

As you can see I took a flat bed home.

Less than one week and counting. I love Don & Carolyn's annual toy run. A fun event for a great cause. Let's see who can fit the most toys in their 2 door sleigh of choice. (Cash is good too. We love cash!)
