I've tracked my cars with and without wing. I used a smaller 56" wing IIRC. Cord was about 8", again, IIRC. I mounted it directly onto the trunk lid. (Actually on plates mounted to the lid. My first race car also was mounted directly on plates on the lid. It didn't dent the lid or rip off, or any of the other imagined problems. My next wing will be at least 60". It makes a VERY noticible difference in cornering speed. So will the seats. But then again, I don't care what anybody else thinks about what my car looks like. I'm only trying to please myself.

Do you have any info on that lower wing? Looks like it could be easily put on and removed for track use and coupled with a bolt on front splitter could make some meaningful downforce. Fwiw, we put a plywood splitter and a rear wing made out of a snowboard on our chump car 944 and it made a noticeable difference in high speed turns.
Ah, the voice of experience speaks! Yes, I made the mounting plate so that it was removable. I'll post pics later tonite of what's left after the tree finished with it. It's easy to replicate. The wing was from APR Performance.

The reality is that a wing adds much drag at lower speeds and is not effective until you reach higher speeds. Therefore, adding a wing for street use is a total waste.
You can't put a wing on a spider F-car. It would look stupid and if you drive it with the top down, it would be downright dangerous as the air will get under the wing. But if you insist, try it and send us the pics of how far you rear deck lid lands from the car.
While I would not put a wing on my car, I do know a thing or two about wings. A) Unless you routinely see the north side to 80 MPH the wing is pure show. Even without the problems mentioned below. B) the chord depth is just as important as the width. you probably want a 7:1 ratio or 10 inches deep, certainly more than 10:1 or 7 inches deep. C) the angle of attack can vary the down force by a factor of 4X while varying the drag by a factor of 6X D) if you plant the rear end you will loose the front end--that is both ends of the car should be developed equally! E) the rear end of a car where the engine bay heat rises out of the <bonnet> grille is very poor for using a wing to develop down force. F) With the turbulence of the spider top down E is even worse. So if you got the wing working well with the top up, the car would turn into a mess with the top down; and vice versa.
I'll admit I'm no Daniel Bernoulli and I'm sure you're much smarter than me but in the fluids class I took while earning a B.S. in mechanical engineering I was told that the principals of lift ,or down force, in this case, are based on the idea that air flows on both sides of a wing. And, for the third time I've stated it in this thread, I'm not going to mount it on the deck lid. But thanks for the input!
There is a single picture somewhere on this forum of a 355 with a rather small wing that sat just a few inches above the boot. Given just the single picture of it, it looked rather good. I forget who's car it was but I'd like to see it from other angles.
I have a spider and a spare lid with the challenge wing on it I'll bolt it on when I finish my service and see if the car flips over backwards

There's no need for this, the factory challenge wing was not mounted in any such manner. There were some supports on the deck lid tying the wing supports to the front of the lid to keep the uprights from tilting fore or aft, but nothing tying it to the subframe or anything. If it pushes down on the lid, it will be transferred to the rest of the car and I've never seen a deformed decklid on a challenge car (which is the same as a standard deck lid).
I know what youre saying bob , i was just wondering if the op had thought out , that mounting it to the subframe , i guess , would require holes for it to pass thru the engine cover , and that i suppose , the wing would somehow need to be removed to allow the engine cover to open . Sounds like a bit much just for the " look " No dipute for a race car , but for a street car , especially a spider , i dunno ! " serenity now "
