Right after hurricane Sandy, an electrician in New Jersey put his pearl white Jalpa up for sale for very cheap because it was in the flood. I conversed with the man and we made a tentative trade for a Maserati I had. We ended up not doing the deal, but about a month afterwards I saw it for sale from a new seller who was selling it for four times more money, and did not disclose that this was a hurricane Sandy flood car. I'd emailed him to tell him that he was mis-representing this car and then he took his for sale ads down and did not reply to my email. So my question is: I'd like to know if anyone here has bought this car, because I'm thinking that whomever the buyer was, they'd gotten ripped off because of the lack of the disclosure that this car was in the flood, and has most likely incurred internal damage.

I don't know, didn't get the vin, but I'm sure that out of the few Jalpas that were made, very few were pearl white, and it should be fairly easy to track down in the Jalpa community..

Are these things really worth that kind of money now?. Damn, a couple years ago you could buy one of these in mint shape for under 40k.

That car being flooded, to me is not an issue. The car is so basic, fixing a few green wires is not a big deal.

Not sure but Derek on Lpower bought a roughed up white Jalpa out NY. As I follow his thread, I do not think there is any salt water flood evidence.

I found the original ad in my files, here it is. The quality of the photo is not good but at least you can see that it was sold out of Toms River NJ sometime after December 30, 2012.... I might have the ad posted by the scammer too, would have to look in my files...

I've always wanted a Jalpa but they're few and far between (besides the red & blue one on Ebay all the time, and the light blue one that was cut in half last year..)

Same car. Based on Derek's photos, it doesn't look to be a flood car.

I don't know who Derek is, but I'm ascertaining that the seller in NJ sold it to a second person who sold it to Derek. I'm thinking this because the second person relisted it for sale immediately after he bought it, for exponentially more than than original selling price, and also with no notation whatsoever that it was a flood car...I'm curious to know if Derek knew it was flooded, and also if he paid anywhere near what the second person was trying to sell it for...

Have to go through that thread on lpower, the head gasket looks normal for the fact that 1. they used bad quality gasket and 2. never changed the collant fluid for years.
