Guys, the whole Jalopnik site is a giggle, not serious stuff. They have one of their best articles today! It is about a car designed to steal gas.

I found the article to be somewhat annoying. I liked his videos ( initially) but now it appears as if he bought the Ferrari simply as something to write about vs the pure love of it. Sure, it is annoying some of the attention you get, and they are quirky...but did he think it was going to be the same experience as a Toyota with prettier body work?

Also, why not run errands with them? They are a car, use it. I find errands in a Ferrari are way more fun! The only thing I don't like is getting stuck in Chicago traffic, but that sucks in any car!

Well I did find this part rather accurate for me....

When I bought the car 6 years ago I had much more free time to just drive, but as my life has progressed I have taken on so many responsibilities and other hobbies that I literally only drove the <5 times this year! I just don't have time anymore and it makes me sad. I have contemplated selling but I can't bring myself to do so. So I pay a lot of money to maintain a car that sits, and sits, and sits,.... but it's always ready just in case. I guess the ultimate solution is to reduce my number of obligations.

    Brendan,
I had a similar period in life where I was on the road all the time for races or training and my 328GTB sat under a cover in my garage for 2.5 years. I never even uncovered it in that entire time. I just had to put Ferrari ownership on a back burner for a while. I knew that there would eventually be a time where I would be able to enjoy it but I would rather have the car and take care of it than sell it. The point is, that happens to all of us. It's not that big of a deal. If the car is maintained and cared for, not using it that much is okay. It's there for when you're ready.

I remember taking my 328 for a long drive one day on a whim and thinking to myself that I really needed to drive it more because it was just so enjoyable.

Fast forward a few years. I have a few more Ferraris now and while I don't necessarily have a lot of time to drive them, I try to drive one every day for at least an hour or so. This year, I had several long time friends (all about my age) die within a few weeks of each other in completely unrelated incidents. It just hit home for me that life is short. I enjoy work to the maximum but I also make sure to take the time to enjoy the little things. When my time comes, I am not going wish that I put more miles on my F40 or any other Ferrari. I don't care about the values or saving them for the next owner. I maintain them to the max and make sure that they are among the nicest examples in existence but I didn't buy them to leave sitting. You will get to that point as well and you will be glad you didn't sell it.

The first year I owned my 355 I didn't drive it once.

I was in Afghanistan flying around working. I guess I should sell it too.

Of course if you don't like attention never go to countries that dislike Americans.
    Talk about unwanted attention hahah

I give a **** about clowns in the states checking out my car.

Just make a point to go for a 30 minute cruise once per week (at least). Just run to the store or something.....

I saw one of his videos by accident. I don't think he's a car guy, just a journalist IMO.
