My friend and I are in the last throws of buying a 612. In fact I am gathering this info along a few other things for the purchase counter offer

The car does needs tires as they are 7 years old.

What are the best tires for that cars? and where are the best prices?

In addition the mechanic told us we dont need an alignment if we put new tires but that is news to me. The alignment was checked with the old tires and was fine but should not any car needs a 4 wheels with any new tires?

EDIT: current tires are P245/35zr20 on the Black Ferrari wheels

While I'm not a 612 owner, here's a little info on the popular MPSS tyres. And just to add, I've NEVER heard of anyone needing an alignment after just replacing tyres. And I've never had one done on ANY car.

Mr. Phillips here seems to be in the know on these things. He may offer some advice on this alignment issue.

All that being said. Seems like people like the F12 spec Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Front size is 255/35R20 K2 spec and rears are 315/35R20 K2 spec.

The FF set should work well too, and will be very close to the OEM size, as they are 245/35R20 front and 295/35R20 for rear.

You can also just use non-Ferrari spec tyres in the original size which is 245/35R20 and 285/35R20

Here's a link and look under "Availability, Pricing and Specs".

Pilot Super Sport | Michelin Tires

    The part numbers are
    F12 set
    Front: 48527
    Rear: 79340

    FF set
    Front: 20206
    Rear: 09045

    Non-Ferrari set OE size
    Front: 74634
    Rear: 10827

Those are too big in the back unless she has 599 wheels, which are an inch wider.

I always have an alignment done after new tires, but not strictly necessary. After springing for $1500-2000 for tires, though, I am too cheap to wear them prematurely. Been there, done that.

Good thing about the MPSS tires is they are considerably less than the PS2s they replace, even though they have won every comparison test I have read.

I recognize those wheels on that 612. I have been looking at it as well but can not decide weather to look further into it or not. I like the interior but am looking for red calipers and shields. Good luck with the purchase.

Thank you. Deal is in the final negotiation today. PPI done by ACE. Car seems to have a few minor issues that can be addressed by them.
Overall it is a car that matches its mileage and life in its zip code. Nohidden surprises, all just normal wear and maintenance to do.

that said, one if the issue is the window switch working sproradically. I think I read somewhere this is a known issue with 612. we want that annoyance fixed amongst other things.

+1 on the MPSS. I've fitted them and they're excellent.

I take it you mean the F12 rears are too wide. To me, those wheels looked like black 599 Challenge wheels, hence my suggestion.

The 599 Challenge and 612 Challenge wheels look identical and the front wheels are identical, but the 612 rear wheel is only 10" wide vs 11" for the 599. Those GTO size (315/35 20) tires are too big for 10" wheels. An owner has a choice for the 11" wheels of 285/35 20 (OEM size), 295/35 20, or 315/35 20, all of which will work fine. The 295/30 20 will probably give the most balanced handling, the 315/35 looks meaner and fills out the wheelwell better, but will increase understeer. For most drivers, that is not a problem.

A lot of companies advertise wheels that fit both 599 & 612. Forget OEM for a moment: Can you actually put an 11" wheel on the 612? I was under the impression that the 612 can pretty much take anything a 599 can.

Adam- Dozens of 612 owners are running 599 rear wheels with no problems. Offsets are set up perfectly to split the difference inside and outside. 612 rear wheelwells are huge.
