That's rush hour so not the ideal time. You could maybe take a drive up South Mountain which shouldn't be too far. It's at least scenic.
Visited South Mountain. Very Pretty. Unfortunately, most roads were closed for the next few months to repair storm damage. Any other thoughts? Thanks! dsd

It's not as good at Tortilla flats but you can get there before dark. Take the red Mountain 202 to Power road. Head north, it will turn into Bush hwy. This road runs along the salt river. Recommend taking it to Saguaro Lake. At the marina you can stop for a beer and enjoy the sunset at the lake before returning. Cheers Jim
