Agreed. Asking price and selling price are two different things. Most of us mortals dont see the time capsules that trade privately. But when we do see the Uber low mile cars, its kind of cool.
The Poreche,Alfa / Fiat market comes to mind on the ridiculous factor. At least the Testarossa model was the cats meow back in the day , unlike the Espada, or a 930 turbo..... Those prices are beyond RIDICULOUS.
Just thought I'd point you all to Hagerty's price evaluation tool for '87 TRs, which shows how long the TR has been languishing, and the sudden uptick: Price Guide Report Exciting!
Just wait until their December values come in. They post updates for April, August and December. Im also excited to see what the December values come in at.
Yeh, those prices are sooooo September 2014. PS I'm hearing Dino owners are bailing out big time. Bet many of them come over to our side.
You got it. The Dino bubble is more obvious than Bill Clinton's drawers being dropped in the oval office. Just look at the classifieds. There are always many for sale at a time, plenty of them left to go around and still no explanation as to why they are so expensive, a 250k car at best. Also, TKO did the exact motion that you are referring to. He sold his Dino months ago and bought himself a nice TR and is not looking back! Also, the TR has been in the gutter for much longer than this graph is showing. It was long overdue. I hope everybody who wants one to drive has grabbed one by now.
Off Topic: wife's original, one-owner 50,000 mi car, condition 1 Price Guide Report Damn. I truly had no idea...
Dino for sale count: 2 on ebay, 4 on hemmings, 4 on dupont (minus 1 already counted), 7 for sale on auto trader classics, for a total of 16. Plus I'm sure there are a few others out there for sale. Yeah they're becoming more rare LOL. Bubble bubble
The biggest Jump in all car listings and sales happened after september.. Their chart stops then.. Its like looking at the wall street journal dated 2008
checked the 512bbi pricing...you can get a boxer for an average price of only $135k!!! pretty good deal in a 12 cyl.
Is it me or am I witnessing that the TR market just jumped 20% in the last two months based on prices I am seeing out there today? Simply look at the newly listed cars on Ebay in the last week. Very aggressive pricing. I just bought my 89 about a month ago from Daniel Schmitt and I had that dash light issue. These guys are trying their hardest to get the car back saying that they will refund 100% of my money back and waive the restocking fee if I want to return the car. My sales guy even said that they sold the red one they acquired and sold a few weeks after my purchase for over $10K more than what I paid and that car had twice the mileage of mine! Yes, we are witnessing something big here folks. Per Hagerty Value Tools, the value of my cars outperformed the equity markets this year by a wide spread. Merry Christmas!
It is all about the sellers. If most sellers keep their price firm the buyers will have to pay their asking price to get one and the market will go up. What will you get for that money if you want a V12? The only one I see are the 456 and 400serie. But a very different car. Maybe one of the very cheap 550 but still a different car.
Moderators We really should have these TR value threads merged. It would be helpful, right now there are about 4 separate threads
