FYI Gerry. There is no such thing as a GTB. Ferrari never badged a 355 GTB.

FYI....I think I know what they were badged as and I also know what they are referred to as by many.

Ok. I didn't know if you were aware of that. Ever since it was brought to my attention it kind of stands out as a misnomer to me now.

Why does the GTB reference bother you? Of course means berlinetta, couldn't be confused with anything else.

Even Ferrari North America is ok with GTB.

They didn't make a GTB. That designation was not used on this model.

It's not a case of what bothers me really. It's just not correct.

I suppose it was just my perception that it bothers you as you correct everyone that posts it.

It's not correct but surely you know what someone means when they type gtb. I just don't think it's a big enough deal to constantly make an issue of.

    Just my opinion!

Of course I know what they mean.

When did you become aware that they never made a GTB ?

I only recently was made aware if that. I don't constantly make an issue of it. I think I've said that twice. Maybe there are others also who aren't fully aware of that fact. I learned it through a post like this as well

Why the confrontation? We are sticklers on this board for all kinds of minutia and detail about these cars. Something as significant as an actual production designation seems kind of glaring to me.

I notice that the OP who had yet to find one used the correct designation though. 😉

I definitely appreciate getting all the facts and designations straight. I didn't officially realize the lack of official designation until a couple of months ago. Since then, I try not to use the GTB designation so that we promote correct "habits."

Just like the car is really called an F355.

We shouldn't really call it a 355 but we all slip to keep typing simple or to use slang or relate to other models without an F.

So I agree, we should try to use Berlinetta and not GTB when talking about the....

    F355

    Or

    355F1

We all "know" what people mean in the forum. I think you should add a correct naming thread to the sticky Bob and move on so people can stop thinking it's a pet peave of yours and there is less chance of upset feelings. :). Thank you for getting us on the right track, though on the B.

It was Steve from AU who correctly schooled me on this fact and who also repeatedly corrected folks on using the term 6 speed as opposed to manual or stick in differentiating between f1 and stick.

I never took offense to his correction nor was he told to move on. He was right. As he was right on this topic as well.

    Moving on...

My 95 355 GTB 2.7 ODB with the Motronic II is awesome! My Toyota Jeep and my Pontiac Fierrari are pretty sweet too...

Come on guys. This is stupid. Help this guy find a good car. Best of luck to the OP, who should hold out for a B at all costs.

Aaaand I am one more who is in the camp of people who are very, very glad to have a 95 F355 Berlinetta (for a long time now, eight years). I know this car far better than any other I've had, and it's much more fun than the others. :)

Wish I had the space for a low mileage garage queen F355 as an investment.

The place I take my car to had a few of them but they are all gone. The only one left is a very nice spider. I believe it originated from the US but not sure.

All of those that are in search of a 355GTB or GTS be careful as there are many POS out there and when desperate to find any 355, you may overlook some huge faults and end up spending a lot more to make it right. Looks like you will have to fill in the *********** with d a y t o n a a u t o . c a

What do you think the actual cost to import one from Europe might be? 5K, 10K ???

There are quite a few nice berlinetta's over there. I hope you noticed the terminology I chose. :)

Also notice that the GTB and Spider prices in Europe are pretty much intermingled. I believe the current premium in GTB prices in the USA is a false economy and is simply due to the lower number of couples imported into the USA. And by far, the most expensive cars on that Euro site are the challenge cars. Could the US market have it wrong, again?

    Skippr!

My best advice is to contact as many dealers and top notch Independent service shops as you can and get on their wanted cars list.

They know who has the cars and who has been "thinking" about selling. If you want a Great car then you are likely to find it through them than waiting on a for sale link. Have you called Foreign Cars Italia?

I had 4-5 348 and F355 cars come up from just my mechanic as cars that could be moving when I just bought my brother's GTS.

Can you give us your first name in your profile? We will beat the bushes for you.

    Thanks. Robb

Robb, that is a great idea. Here are some of the dealers I would contact. Marshall Goldman, Switchcars, Foreign Cars Italia as Robb stated.

    Skipp,

Another source is the Ferrari Market Letter (FML)

I have not been a subscriber for a year but it is online and printed. There always seems to be good cars from Ferrari club members that advertise there. Maybe another f-chatter that currently subscribes can advise you of any F355's there before you spend the subscription fee...
