'03 360. I noticed the leather strap securing the tool kit case in the front compartment to be broken. Same thing, too, when I inspected the leather strap that secures the scissor jack case. I understand they're going 12 years old. Just got a new OEM one (just for the tool kit; $198.53 from Ricambi - Thanks Daniel for fast shipping!). Have you inspected yours? Wonder if this is common and if conditioning the leather would prevent this.

The OEM straps are NOT leather, just cheap, cheap crap imitation look like leather. Ferrari really missed the boat and opted to forgo the real deal Italian leather. I had a leather shop make real leather straps using the OEM buckles, etc... That said, I wish I had real quality buckles installed instead of the CRAP that Ferrari used.

The OEM stuff is a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are complete and total junk. I bought a set so I am speaking from experience. The sewing is terrible. The points aren't even in the middle of the strap. The holes are in the wrong places (not same as OEM) and they are the wrong size holes to fit the bolts, you would have to punch the straps hole out larger. Color doesn't match the cases or the interior. Took some pics and can post if people really want to see but I might as well have burned the money. At least that would have been exciting for a moment.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the aftermarket leather strap. That way we won't waste our money. Sincerely appreciated.

Original straps are indeed cheap imitation leather. Mine is all broken too so I just removed them all and stored the tool kit and tire inflator in my garage. I needed the added space in the luggage compartment.

Probably the best thing to do.

The metal part on the lower strap where the case rests just rubs on the leather, too. Just not well thought off.

Good to know. I bought one of his fob covers and found it to be very good, and fit like oem.

I'm glad I have the spare wheel kit as my tool case is strapped to it with a cushioned disc behind.

I waited till a local art/wine festival came to town. Asked a seller to cut me a piece of leather strap with perforations to screw into the car and for the metal buckle. $20. the color is not the same as EOM though.

Find a shop that does horse saddle/harness repair. They would have the proper tool to cut, sew, punch holes, set rivets, etc... They should also apply dye to the cut edges and correct the leather color for a better match.

Ferrari should be ashamed for supplying such trash and charge such outrageous prices!!!!!!!

    Thanks for the info.

I removed mine and will just leave it inside my garage.

Should I change my mind I will contact them.

    Thanks again.

My straps were toast. I had all straps in the luggage compartment remade by a leather person out of high quality materials, with matching hardware and color tint. I think it cost me about $400, installed, which seemed a bit steep to me. Oh well, they're done now and that's one thing I can cross of my list.

I don't intend to take my car to a concours, so if they're not the original shoddy quality materials, I don't really care.

    Hi Raj, good for you.

Can you share some photos of how your new custom made straps look like?

$400 is steep but as long as they are made extremely well and you happy with them that is all that matters.

Dan, I will check, I'm not sure I bothered to take pictures of the new straps because they look pretty similar to the original straps. Plus my car is all covered up & put away for the winter so it's not very convenient to shoot new ones. I'll look and see what I've got though.

Good advice. My spare-tire strap was also broken in the same way; I did not think of a saddle-shop, but went to a local shoe-repair store (which are getting hard to find); they did a good job of matching the original. I think it cost $10 or $20.
