Again, I am far from a Miura expert. Viewing these recent photos, in the condition that it is in, where would you guys place its value? I had thought the first offer of 750k would have been a bargain for the buyer. When asked, I said mine is only a guess without research but 800-900. Can these car be stored for 150k or 200k or? Can say for sure that while owning a Countach, the love for the engine access of the Miura was immediate.
I found this car featured on the Kidston site Kidston - 1971 Lamborghini Miura P400SV but can't find the price--maybe it's POA, price upon application. I wonder what the German who bought it in Iran paid for it? There's a sad letter on the site from a young man who says his father went to look at it but came back a few days later with the money only to find the car had sold. I say don't go look at a car unless you have some instrument of payment with you, If the seller has second thoughts you could lose the car if you take too long to get the money....
this is ex John H.'s SV an opportunity to buy it back ? "EX-SHAH OF PERSIA 1971 MIURA SV Chassis #4870 Engine #30622 Prod. #635
I click your link, but now when I went on his website, it is not in the available list, so may be/probably an old record/offer...
I think its old. My biggest automotive regret was accepting that call from Simon. After two "no it's not for sale" he got me . I bet I could rival stories of the Shah in the many years I had with 4870. At a minimum I added some history with several supermodel passengers! I would welcome a reasonable call back from Simon. I'd gladly give the new owner 100% of his money back. He could own it for free.
I think the offer made by the Italian was more than plenty. If he didn't get the car, so be it, he was wise to sit it out, I think.
We've found this old picture of a white Miura. It seems to be Dr. Kavian Saleh's car, Chassis #4479, Engine 30484, Prod #496, Delivered March 7th 1970. But as we spotted that orange BMW 2000 CS in the left side of the picture and Dr. Saleh did not have a BMW, it might also be another lost car. I mean Eskandar Aryeh's second Miura, Chassis #4761, Engine #30580, Prod #575, Delivered December 18th 1970. Any ideas? I need some help to solve this mystery... As both of the cars were white 1970 P400s with blue interiors, it's hard to find out which is which and who is who! The second picture shows Dr. Saleh and his wife alongside #4479. Are these pics taken in the same place? The third picture shows the orange Bimmer of the first pic alongside a blue 3000 CSi. Thanks for sharing, great new image of the white Miura S, I presume in Teheran. Unfortunately I can't shed any light on the questions.
The photographer (Mr. Mehrdad Vahid, Current member of BMW 3000 Club of USA) revealed that the picture was taken in 1976 and the car is actually Kavian Saleh's Miura. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think that's the white one now standing in the auto museum in Tehran, with some special rims on it. http://daachgah.deviantart.com/art/Miura-SVJ-Tehran-National-Classic-Car-Musem-399147416
Hi, You are correct. There is a lot of lore surrounding this car. There are currently Ferrari 330 GTC rims on it being used as a donor. Apparently, according to local lore, the car was buried under a green house to avoid expropriation following the revolution. The rims had been removed, never to be found. I hope Nima Mojitz will chime in with any supplemental information. Here is a picture of the car in good company with the lp 400 and Superfast of the museum. Weren't all these cars all stored at the The Sa'ad Abad Palace & compound? Some cars are still there including a nice 300 SL Roadster, and at least half-a-dozen 600 SWBs. What happened to the green 365 BB? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Joe, After the revolution, the cars were stored in different places and warehouses. For instance the SVJ, a yellow Espada and two Rolls Royces were at the Niavaran Palace at the revolution. The Miura and Espada were later removed and sold off whilst the Rolls Royces remained in the palace until being refurbished in 2009 and put on permanent display in a museum made out of the original Palace parking. In Saadabad a number of Rolls Royces , Mercedes, Dune Buggy and a 300Slr were at the palace where they remain today in a makeshift museum. Before that they were stored in the former stables of Princess Ashraf who had a palace in the Saadabad grounds, as did her son Shahram. The 600's came to thePalace in 2010 when they were transfeered from the former offices of the Prime Ministry to the Palace. The bulk of the Shah's collection were kept at another palace and were subsequently transferred to an organization called the "Foundation for the Poor" which the bulk of the Shah's assets as well as other figures associated with the monarchy were transferred. The bulk of the cars which were not sold off were moved to a large warehouse complex, a part of which was transformed into the museum. It may have been possible that some cars were put in depot at Saadabad before being transferred elsewhere. The green Ferrari is on display in the collection of the museum. We had it on display in our show at Saadabad in 2006. Regards, Ramin Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Joe, Just a quick point. The picture that you have posted of the cars in storage (post 13267) is not Saadabad Palace. This picture is the actual warehouse where the (bulk of) the cars were (and still are) kept and a part of which now comprises the museum. By the way Joe, holiday wishes to you and your family, Warmest Wishes Ramin
so, does it mean Dr. Saleh's Miura was confiscated during the revolution ? what happenned to him & his family ?
Hi, Based on my discussions with the museum and other evidence, the car was indeed confiscated. Based on past posts by Joe Sackey, it is my understanding that Doctor Saleh emigrated to the US. Perhaps Joe could chime in ? Regards, Ramin
Last I know he was in Washington DC area 10 years ago when I spoke to him about the Shah's cars, but I have had no contact in recent years.
Apparently taken in 1972 or 1973 this appears to be a USA-spec SV with SV fronts shod on the rears (as some were delivered). Image Unavailable, Please Login
