I recently became aware that both the 96-99 F355 and the Porsche 993 utilize the Bosch Motronic engine management system Ver 5.2 (a subject of a forthcoming disertation)

Porsche owners have a scanning/programming product available to them called Durametric which is pretty robust.

No doubt the ecu software loaded in the respective ECUs is customized for the specific car but I would think there is a lot of overlap and that at the very least, you should be able to get live engine data to the highest detail available.

Anyone with a copy of Durametric care to plug it in to their F355 5.2 and see what can be accessed?

I took a look at that system just on the net

Looks like a specialized OBD2 reader set up for Porsche. I think any full OBD reader will give us the same on the 355 such as "torque" app for andriods.

5.2 DME although has the same name is quite the different software and hardware configuration for Ferrari vs Porsche Vs Rover Vs Ford Vs BMW etc etc

Always good to see what others are doing thanks for the heads up :)

As to the software, it is more than a reader. It can access the other modules of the car (airbag, BCM, climate control, etc) and I think modify some values. It's closer to a tool that replicates what a dealer uses than a generic OBD scan tool even a more full featured one.

I think it's the Porsche equivalent of a Leonardo.

I saw some threads going back a few years where members on here were in talks for Durametric to release a Ferrari version but the chatter died in 2012.
