I'm going for it. I have a cover on the way to cut up and I talked to Billy the glass guy today. :)
I'd be interested in a kit, but not sure I'd want to cut the original, so fiberglass might be attractive. I'd just paint to match the car. It would, however, obsolete the month or so I just spent figuring out the bonnet pad material that would look like the original, not be foil, not prone to melting, and not 30 or so years old. But I'd be ok with that. I think the glass looks good. I'd just want to be able to go back to original, someday, maybe.
Yeah I wanted to have the original engine cover as well, so I just bought another cover thru trutlands it was already red so that was good. So I put the original cover up in a safe place and cut the used one i bought. My recommendation is to find a used one and put the original on up somewhere. It is also alot cheaper than buying the Carbon Fibre one that is on the market for sale.
I got my cover from Eurospares yesterday. My car has no 3rd brake light and they were able to pluck one for it off the shelf.
