I'm getting stationed at Vicenza, Italy, and I'm taking the 308, Ducati, and Jeep with me. So to all my Italian friends here I want to know about Ferrari clubs, motorcycle clubs, track days, auto-cross, etc. I'd also like to buy a nice Italian over-under shotgun.

So you know normal import rules don't apply to me. I'm very excited.

Also, what would be some handy smart phone apps for Italy and Europe?

Very nice city; nice location: near the mountains and near the sea; very cold winters, with lots of snow; hot and humid summers. You'll love it.

AGIP is also fine for a Ferrari...
being a child of the seventies, I always had a soft spot for AGIP and tend to stop whenever I see an AGIP station, and take pictures of my 328s being filled up here; looks the part to me...

I was going to post AGIP (now ENI) - I too have a soft spot for them (and I'm also a child of the '70s).

Great photo of a 328 at an AGIP station in R&T Exotic Cars: 4 if I remember correctly...

if I were young enough and lucky enough to be stationed in Italy, I would forget the Beretta and the Ducati and concentrate on the women.

Actually you'll need the "where's the nearest Agip/Eni" app too. Your fuel coupons are good for either...at least they were when I was at Aviano.

You will love driving the Dolomiti!

Forget a translator ap. just take an Italian class or two on base, then hit a bar or cafe every day to practice the whole time you're there, and all will be fine. Lots of French spoken in that part of the country as many fled to France at the end of the war for nearly a generation and have been returning more recently to their ancestral homes. German and Slovenian are not uncommon either. It's a very beautiful area to live.

    Ciao!

    Hannibal

I plan on be very social, but have a Rosetta Stone kit on the way to help out.

Italian is not so difficult as it appears. If you know some spanish or french, it will help, as they are similar languages. Forget the translator, the best way i know to learn a foreign language, and a way that motivates you a lot, is to try seducing some local women... ;)

    ciao

    PS
