I am interested in selling my 550 to move up. This thread has helped that decision along!
Lew, I suggest u keep the first post updated with the info. Someone might come here and not want to read all the pages and think your car needs $$$ to repair. You should write in the OP that u made all the replacements and put the car up-to-date in everything important.
As it is a long, though interesting, thread can you reconfirm the work done recently- am I right that it has had the bearing fixed and you replaced the clutch when you were getting the bearing done ? - Is the current asking 175? I read these on an iPhone so it takes a while getting through the pages.
Lew, Wish I had seen your post about Mendocino, I would have liked to check her out. I was in the market then, but a real estate op has taken precedence for now. GLWS. John
I get to Mendocino fairly regularly. Can always check it out for fun if you want. Good luck with your RE ventures.
185 posts and this car still hasn't sold. Wow. Lew - have you thought of consigning it to your local dealer? I have to imagine anyone that sees the car in person sitting on a Ferrari showroom floor will instantly fall in love.
I'm loving this car. She has about 19K miles on her now. They are mostly awesome coast of CA twisty roads type of miles. She is running like a wild horse. Still for sale.
The market has spoken, not many takers for non-red $180k+ 5 years used 599s. For that $$ there are many options out there for newer machinery. Guy can walk in and buy brand new Bentley GT. Don't nickel and dime buyers in this segment, if you knew the bearing was going bad then fix it and market a perfect car, its good that you got it fix. I think the 599 is amazing value at $160k and below, at $180k its not great value cause its too close to $200k. I suggest put it on ebay or consign to a dealer. I'm in the market for a 599 but your mileage is too high considering so many sub 10k mile cars around. Good luck on the sale. Very nice car.
Depreciation on the 12 cylinder Ferraris is brutal, that is true, but the white color is en vogue and the HGTE options counter that on this particular cars' market value so it really can't be lumped into the mainstream pricing.
I've run more than one ad over the years that said something to the effect of "until you buy her, I'm going to keep driving your car". Keep enjoying that steed Lewis. It's worth every penny you're asking, and if it's worth a penny more to you, you'll just have to enjoy more miles in her.
I doubt that the TR and 550 owners would agree with you. And the 599 will come around with a little patience
