I think Alfa USA has asked dealers not to take deposits anymore because they are having a tough time delivering. It's one thing to wait for a car and be disappointed and another to have them holding your money.

My dealer in LV won't take a deposit. I asked for like 2 years now including a week ago. They figure they cannot order any customer cars into May but no one a Alfa has a clue.

Basically, the dealers know NOTHING so anything they tell you is just a best guess or outright lie.

I would read that as engineering issues on USA bound cars or a manufacturing learning curve that has to be resolved. They must have no confidence in forecasting US production at this point.

It's so Italian to keep everyone in the dark. They should just man up and tell the dealers what is going on, the customers can deal with it. Everyone has been waiting how long?

I am not sure what you're talking about, they're already available here in Toronto and also in Oakville Ontario,, perhaps the dealers you spoke to have only received small allotments and you have to find another dealer

My dealer has been very honest. Only dealer in my state and probably has drawn customers from Atlanta and other cities around. $500 to hold my place in line, refundable if I decide not to buy. Dealer admits little communication with Alfa and they are as frustrated as customers. They have delivered one Launch edition so far and expect another one within a week or so.

Not worse than my friend's Ferrari dealer experience (unknown wait at first, car showed up with wrong options)...I'll get that experience at a discount!

Spoke to the local dealer, they have a bunch of deposits, so many they are not taking any more. As TheMayor says the dealers are a bit frustrated with the Italians. They did say the cars are not coming in as promised/allocated. Typical Italian stuff. I'll probably be able to place an order in a year.

I figure worst case scenario, if the Italians continue to frustrate me, I'll do what the Mayor did and order a Corvette. :)

They had 2 4C Launch editions on the floor at FIAT/Alfa Chicago, one was spoken for and the other was still available last week.

Wow this stuff is awesome. You got to get on the 4 c forum.

You need to make one with valves because the 4c is loud to begin with and alfa doesn't offer it

Car eeds 350 hp from its turbo motor, if mercedes subaru audi etc can offer those pwer levels from small doisplacement 4's then an alfa sportscar should too. That woudl at least make the car standout besides looks and Cf tub.

Maybe that can be solved with a 4C S Edition. I don't see anything wrong with the base edition as it is and then a sport edition with more goodies at a larger price. The tested 0-60 times of 4.1 seconds seem pretty good for a base MSRP of what $55k?

yes objectively good with 0-60 using launch control and dct. but not good in everyday use with lag, weak off boost, etc. same with suspension.

Sounds like a 4C R version might suit your needs? Alfa is early in USA deliveries maybe more versions are in the works? Maybe a buffet of options/versions like the F-Type has would suit more customers? Then you can get the cf tub for $55k and an R version could have all the goodies you want at a larger price.

Over a year ago (iirc) I left my name at a Fiat dealer. They called today to ask if I wanted their "last launch model, arriving in two weeks".

Sure, I'm a buyer at MSRP I replied.

"Oh, sorry sir, we want $86k ($15k over).

    Umm. No.

    Oh well.

Something tells me after they run through everyone on their list at MSRP + 15K, you guys may be getting calls back with a more reasonable person on the other end.

There are reports of many owners paying MSRP. You have to shop around. On the west coast, they are just being stupid.

The problem is Alfa will not tell the dealers when they will get another and even IF they will get another. So, dealers are holding on to them asking crazy MSRP's

Agreed. Local dealer told me they auctioned their first delivery. Another local dealer has theirs on eBay with a 6-figure starting bid.
