More parts getting restored. The header wrapping was rusted out so we cut it off. The owners decided not to rewrap the header but instead have them coated with a process called "White Lightening" They get shipped to Swain Coatings tomorrow. White lightening is a very thick thermal coating that has the old school look of the race cars in the early seventies and before. It is sort of a grayish white although we most likely paint them black when we get them back.

Heat it up a little with a heat gun and it will slide off.

I find seeing all of the many restored parts and details almost more beautiful than the finished product when these things are hidden. Sort of like looking at the insides of a beautiful watch or clock. Awesome work.

I agree, to me I consider it an art project as much as a restoration project.

08514 out of the media blast booth today. A very straight car with the only prior damage far below the left front. Other than that, no bodo or cancer. As this was such an original car there weren't any surprises expected. Out of the booth and rushed a few blocks away to their paint shop before the rain!! Cleaned and then primed. Moving along!

I was looking for a good replacement seal for the USA front indicator lenses. The original material was white and is always rotted out. I found some rubber the same size and firmness at McMaster's. The only difference is that is red but you don't see the color through the lens. Just a source if anyone is looking.

I've see a few types of Air Conditioning fans on the Dinos, this on is basically a left side ventilation fan with some tabs attached to secure it. This one uses the same 80mm vent hose as the rest of the ventilation system. I've seen some with a larger vent hose.

More progress on 8514 from big to the most small projects. The owners are now deciding the silver to put on the car. They want something close to original but with more "pop". The color on the left is original Argento. We'll see where this goes as there are a million shades of silver. They want to get it right as they never sell cars, so will living with the rolling art for a long time!!

If the owners wish to remain close to the original Argento Jon then I'd suggest trying a spray out of Maserati's Grigio Touring which is a similar shade of silver but with more fleck in the paint to make it sparkle. I had it on a Gran Turismo.

Very glad to hear that the owners are going to keep 8514 silver. Did you find a door ding fix in the left door? I was responsible for that and almost cried when it happened. It was fixed by a very good shop. We cared and loved that car for around 20 years. Was surprised to see the other damage you noted.
