Im in for the raffle!
Here are some interesting discussions on the subject: CAN I LEGALLY HAVE A CAR RAFFLE ON MY CAR AND SELL TICKETS AT $100 - Mercedes-Benz Forum Is this car raffle thing legal by an individual? - Corvette Forum May I raffle off my car in Ohio for $50 or $100 per ticket It's obvious to me that it depends a lot on what state you live in. Mike
Have a lawyer hold monies and title in trust until all tickets are sold. Do a live webcast of tickets being placed in the tumbler and the pulling of the winning ticket. Notify the relevant party have the title signed over. Monies transferred to sellor and you're done. Not sure of issues with respect to it being considered illegal gaming in a particular state or Canadian province. But it is definitely feasible.
I'm in on a raffle, I'll buy a couple of tickets for $100.00, bought my '97 Porsche 993 with a salvage title and the local Porsche dealer can't find anything wrong with the car, he looked through everything end to end top to botoom, he said drive it and drive it hard.
What are the ramifications of having a car with a salvage title as far as buying insurance goes? How does that work? Mike
If so, (if I win) the history of the title would be revealed in a new guess what thread with the closest participant given a framed duplicate salvage title, with all facts included. It had less to do with damage than agreement and deductable amount twix owner and ins co. so you may rule out any catastrophic damage other than cosmetics as I know of it. it is a very nice automobile with very low miles and a restored/salvage title included. I would of course resell the car.......dropping the price I might add.. Enough of the raffle...not gonna happen Tom M
I do have to admit, I at times begin to weaken in my resolve. But, until It sells, why end the saga that has finally begun to unite us all in a mostly select community. Wish I had a photo of the plaque won by post #500...I do have some other items I may send to elected posts just to keep it fun. All addresses kept top secret
I insure thru Geico, photos of auto (to show condition) will have documented purchase price maintained, (as assured by Geico). Cost is very very close to ins cost on my harley and my p/up truck. I have found no issue to this point,,,tho no claim to this point so I am satisfied with this and believe Geico to be up front as to any issue with title or reimbursment. They have settled fast and completely within costs on another vehicle claim total...not a Red This is my experience, I am sure others have more to add
"goodness had nothing to do with it" And if embarrasment is an issue...lock the door or change gentlemans club, OR maybe the thread is to near to thee and consuming bean burritos while driving "Red" could be the cause. A Ferrari owner emitting odorous emissions? How very embarrassing that should be!
As a question - could the car be titled in another state that might "clean" the title?? It wouldnt change the history of course - especially as its documented here. But might make the car more palatable to those who might object to the title issue? There were states that would do that at one point - but am unclear which states those are any more. PDG
Just about any state where you know someone at the DMV and a wash is possible thru 2 or 3 states but the DMV "friend" is easiest, cheapest and probably illegal...unless it was an oversight of course. And then there is the "restored vehicle" title. Mine is a "restored/salvage title...same same but restored has not the stigma attached to it. Sad but true and we are talking of a 30k car not a 200k collectors garage queen. Get over it folks...more is spent on your dolled up hot rod chevy pick/up truck you go mud bogging in. Reality checks here seem to be missing but thats part of the "F" snobbery that does exist that so many try and deny. 30 K for a beautiful "RED" Ferrari and the title can be used to wipe your dip stick. I could have done that but to what purpose..Tracing history is much to easy and with the "Red cars" next to impossible to hide and then you have laid doubt as to the car and mostly yourself...word then spreads faster than even a "Red". It has been done but greed is not one of my reasons for selling and No need to lie about it.......as many here seem to think I did.
Most US lotteries state that residents of Canada are not eligible. The bigger issue is that it is not permitted to import a salvage title vehicle from the US for registration for use on public roads in Canada. Any Canadians thinking that zoowho2's 348 is a good deal... think again.
I think this is wrong Gordon, a salvage vehicle is not a problem if rebuildable. A FLOODED car can't be registered for road use in Canada.
I don't think the VIN has been listed in this thread which makes the connection less straightforward - for better or worse...
Yes, check the RIV website, you can import and use a salvage vehicle in Canada. I answered the question and posted the links many pages ago on this thread.
You will notice with a thread this long that sometimes there is a post and since there are so many unless you check every day as I do you will miss some. I keep checking on the hope that Tom one day says 27.5 to the first person that comes up with it and I'd be all in. Looks like a beautiful car and unless you are looking for a garage queen it is perfect. I bought my Ferrari to drive. Of all the people I have encountered admiring my car have never asked if it was a salvage car. The seller is open for inspections. How bad can it be? For crying out loud somebody buy this car cheap, drive it for many years and enjoy it. Then sell it to the next guy cheap so he may enjoy it also. It's a FERRARI !!!!!!!!!!!
Seller Tom does not strike me as a kind of guy that is in for a (small) price reduction, especially in a "situation like this". If you like it so much and agree with the "value for money", you let it slide for a mere 2500 dollars ? Really ???
I offered Tom $28.5K almost exactly 12 months ago...no deal. I wonder if the $1500 (less) was worth all this drama standing here now a year later???
Well, he díd say "the first 30K takes it".. And personally I don't quite see the point in letting a deal slide for either 1500 or 2500, if you really like/want such a car. So either you or Shrephwed buy the d*mn thing for 30K (no raffle, then..) & let's get it over with !!
I had a red 308 for 15 years so I was looking for something other than red in my next purchase. I found a yellow 348 with no title issues for the same $ I offered Tom a couple months later, so that was a better option for me but at the time I would have bought the car if he was willing.
I'm thinking if the car is worth 27,500 it's worth 30,00 just for this thread alone . You would be known from coast to coast like butter and toast !
