Can't wait to see the results!

I think I am going to do a bunch of stuff this fall-- recover the dash, grigio mercury the wheels,etc..-- so I'd love to hear input on your recovering.

dsd- What I can tell you about recovering is- it takes too bloody long. Car has been down for a month. If you have a black dash, no sweat because matching is not a big deal. Mine is charcoal with red stitching and matching was a big deal. You need to find someone who has a bunch of experience doing the dashes, though. The WSM warns not to leave the dash out too long or it may be very difficult to reinstall. Would be even worse if someone bent it out of shape recovering it. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Rik- If you mean the instrument panel, lighting appeared to be out according to Rod, although the strip lighting was actually fine, just the circuit board fire had cut off that function. Do not know what else was inop, because it was never installed on my car. I sent it directly to FAI for check-out and odometer matching, where the circuit board damage was discovered.

Rod can R&R an instrument panel in less than an hour, but it took my technicians considerably longer because it was the first digital panel they had pulled.

Here is a photo of the strip lighting for a 360 instrument panel.

Thanks. I was told a month too, thats why I am waiting for fall/winter. I am taking it to a highly respected local Ferrari shop who has a leather guy. They will do the install/reinstall. I have black with silver stitching, so matching should be doable.

I've been looking forward to seeing these pictures, Terry. Not only does your yellow tach look great, but the entire instrument panel does as well. They did a great job recovering the dash.

And, of course, I love the double-wall HGTC exhaust tips.

What size spacers did you install?

Very tastefully done! Makes a world of difference compared to the other guages. The wheels and exhaust look great too. Any sound clips of the exhaust btw?

    Great looking!!!

And another benefit. Knowing how particular you are...your gauge needles now match your stitching. Oh my.

Thanks, guys. Five month delay on the dash and instrument panel was worth it. Spacers are HE 25 mm Type 2. Sets me up if I can ever afford Novitec NF-2s. My techs sold additional sets for Maranellos just from others seeing how much they fill out the rear wheel wells.

Brian Crall was right. $2000 to R&R the dash, compared to about $500 to R&R the instrument panel alone. You have to pretty much rip the whole interior apart to get the dash out. Including removing the seats.

Two new front tires, four new TPMS sensors, four wheel alignment. Car drives like a dream and everything is working.

Picked up a low price set of CF paddles, too, but not installed yet. Will let you know if they fit well. Very good quality for only $200 from Taiwan.

    Hi,

I read this thread a while back, and loved what Taz had done with the dash and the yellow rev counter - so i went on the hunt for a 575 SA instrument cluster.

Got lucky and this beauty arrived today, with the carbon surround!

As my car is LHD with a KPH speedo, my plan is to remove my original speedo, insert the MPH dial overlay on to it, and transfer the speedo into the new carbon dash - so all odometer remains accurate to the car. Hopefully i get my desired result - carbon dash, yellow rev counter with the horse and a MPH speedo reading - only thing is the odometer will be calculated in KM's rather than miles - but i can live with that!

Will let you know how it goes!

    cheers

Mark- Good find. If you swap out the speedometer, the rest of the gauges will still be metric. Might be better off just leaving them metric. If you decide to change the speedometer, check with FAI and see if they can convert the odometer to miles. That function is in the 2 Mb chip in the instrument cluster.

Incidentally, I later discovered all the Superamerica gauge clusters were carbon fiber to go along with the standard radio and roof control panel standard CF.

I know this may be a dumb question at this point in the thread, so please excuse me, but I had considered swapping gauge faces once on my tach, and the colored faces were available for a few hundred bucks and could be swapped out on an existing tach.

Is that not possible on the Maranello???

Also- If the gauge face is not available, Could you swap out just the tach, or that's not possible?

Were colored tachs not an option on Maranellos??

I'm actually just discovering this thread cause I was considering doing the same, Your panel looks Super Taz--- Fantastic addition to your car ;)

Moe- Colored tachs were not available on the V12s until the Superamerica. Not sure if anybody makes an overlay for the 575M. Daniel at Ricambi and I tried with a prototype, but Mo-Ma was afraid they could not get the tach needle off without damaging it.

It seems now Novitec is doing it for 1500 clams if you send them your whole pod

Is it not easier to just buy a new yellow tach & install it?

You made all the right moves getting yours done- Good job sir!

Moe- All one unit on the 360, 575M, and F430. See the photos. No yellow tach to buy. The instrument clusters are very expensive new, $5300 from the cheapest source I could find in the UK.
