Im looking for one of the complexes that has garages that you can purchase and store your vehicles in. I want to get some ideas so I can develop my own. Usually they have 15- 30 garages in varying sizes that you can outfit to your own specs. I just can find any of them on line right now. There were a bunch of them advertised a few years ago.

No nothing like that. I will have rugged area with sofas a small counter area with frig and bathroom. The garage part will have a four post lift and the usual tool chests.

Here in Texas, I've noticed an interesting trend in the past year or so. My wife and I have been looking for a new home, downsizing as the kids are grown. On many of the new construction homes, we've seen the homeowner adding a separate structure just for their cars. The houses have an attached 3 to 4 car normal garage, and then a separate garage for their "interesting" cars.

These are fully enclosed, heated and cooled, 3 to 4 car structures that feature tall ceilings (20ft+). Plenty of room for lifts and ceiling cranes. One had a small loft over one of the stalls with a bathroom and shower.

In talking with the builders, I come to find that the price of adding the structure is rather reasonable. Only $60K to $80K. And these aren't in million dollar neighborhoods. Rather in the typical (for Texas) new build, semi-custom/tract neighborhoods.

These are not out on a farm, or in the country, but rather in the middle of a modern city (Frisco, Allen, Prosper). I told my wife that she could design/build the house in any way she wants (within affordability of course), as long as I get my separate garage.

Nice. My house is spotless. When I go to the shop to do projects, smoke a cigar, have a beer with the guys, and watch a race I could G.A.S. about flashy. I want to forget about that for a while.
