It's funny to read how so many people cannot understand that after last season, the Tifosi are just happy to see that the Ferrari is fastest of all somewhere - Even if it is only winter testing!

How about letting us enjoy the moment whilst it lasts?

Great shot of the Ferrari guys checking out Alonso in the McHonda.

Seems Honda have sorted out their issues, Alonso is racking up the miles, and word is the Honda engine sounds a lot better!

    Rosberg has stopped on track.

Meanwhile Kimi raikkonen tops the charts atm.

Mclaren have done 32 laps so far today.

That Ferrari sure seems like a decent car, easily making good laps.....maybe we can play red bull's part this year

Honda blew a head gasket or coolant channel of sorts (lost coolant pressure) so they're out for the day, and that was a brand new engine they just installed today as it was to be the Barcelona test engine. Concerned for them....

Merc back out. Engine stop was a precaution.

Is there a link about the engine being the Barcelona spec? I haven't read anything that pointed to this so far.

Merc are just relentless in pounding in the miles. They are clearly chasing the reliability envelope and not bothering about ultimate performance yet. Does anyone know if the PU in the Merc is the 2014 or 2015 spec?

McLaren managing to triple their laps total for the entire test today. And then bang, toast. Back to base camp for tea and crumpets till tomorrow…

The only team we can be sure are running their intended 2015 engine is McLaren.

We know nothing from any team about how dial-up they are running :)

It would be silly to use last year's pu seeing how limited testing is. No use racking up miles on an old spec pu. Of course we do not know fuel levels, boost, etc. so that is one of many variables to consider.

I want to hear from Kimi his thoughts on this year's car vs. last year's car-"jah it's better" -will suffice as that is all he will say anyways.

I would think this first test is going to be a basic reliability test with a bit of 'run it until it breaks' thrown in there without pushing things, then the second test would probably see the power turned up with teams really trying to bust things on long runs. Third test sees more aero bits, setup work, race simulations etc

It makes sense for teams to run the new PUs for all the reasons already mentioned, plus Honda will be limited to a number of in-season development tokens equal to the average of the number of tokens unused by the other three PU makers. So the more tokens they use the fewer number of tokens Honda can use.

That is not a good failure...not that there is a "great" failure to be had. But thinking of all the issues that could lead to that (in terms of design) is a bit scary. Maybe it is just a systems problem and not an actual engine/cooling design issue.

Saw that too. Need feedback from Kimi to see if he's happy.

James Allison said the same thing essentially - they looked at the entire car and the front suspension did not need that level of work.

Makes me wonder what they did to address Kimi's complaints over the front of last year's car in terms of feel.

I agree with this ^^^^ Both Kimi, Seb, and the team have been doing an exceptional job, and this is only the first test. What more could we ask for? Really?

It does seem to be a good sign that both Ferrari powered gars are doing well.
