Here is what went into my car. The sound is OK. I would prefer better, but for now they are fine. http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-DB6501-6-5-Inch-Component/dp/B000P0R6LQ The specifications should help size what will fit. The biggest problem for decent audio in the car is the carpet over the speakers. I am tempted to pull that carpet and replace it with audio fabric. Just haven't pulled that trigger yet.
I have a Memphis audio 12" SA series sub in my 348. It's mounted in a shallow dual bandpass box. "SA" stands for "shallow application." Im not into bass pounding music and such, so the 12" may seem large, but with the correct amps and speakers (Focal) the system sounds almost as good as the V8 behind it. I can get the sound I want, when I want it, while only using factory mounting locations in the doors and a little room in the trunk for equipment.

Yup. I put the tweeters behind the screens in the side vents where they belong. The crossovers in the trunk allowed me to try and dial thing s in. The biggest audio problem right now is the fabric on the door panels. Hacking the door panel up seems like a shame so I am leaving it alone until I find a cheap set of donor panels
That doesn't interfere with the vents? I have this enclosure and sub sitting in the basement. I'm still deciding if I want to install it or do something like you did in the trunk? It holds a 10". Image Unavailable, Please Login
The original stereo had tweeters located in the two side vents...it is why there is a grill in each unit. Pop out the vent and the tweeter (or it's mounting bracket) are right there.
Hey, I recognize that enclosure! It still offends me optically! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/439174-free-355-passenger-footwell-speaker-enclosure.html
Ha! I now understand where you were coming from! I can't bring myself to put that boat anchor in my car.
So my digging leads me to find that my system and your system were installed by a company called Reus Audio in California. I just spoke with Cliff there. It was high end at the time to the tune of $10,000 he claims. McIntosh, Eclipse, Philips speakers. I'm sending him pictures and he said he would respond with suggestions to modernize it.
Yes, found this in another thread too. Sounds like it was a dealer installed option. Hi Robbie: The HVAC Control Unit and AC vent are being mailed out this morning. THANK YOU!!! Back to audio. Just for background, the SST Audio System was a Ferrari dealer option in later (1997-on, I think) F355s. I also believe it was a $12-14K option! They originally mounted the amp in the front compartment in a manner similar to that suggested by 355Dreamer, but with no cover, so one could see the big, blue analog McIntosh power meters and logo sign. However, they later changed to a side-wall mount due to over heating problems and owner complaints over the dramatic decrease in front compartment depth. You could probably utilize a 3 channel amp - 2 channels to drive the stereo woofers/tweeters in the car interior and the third mono channel to drive the subwoofer in the front compartment. The number I have for Reus Audio is (800) 276-8865. FYI, I can almost guarantee you that will NOT sell you any individual components they may still have in NOS. However, any good audio shop experienced in exotic installations will be able to fabricate a subwoofer cabinet exactly the same dimensions as the front wall of the compartment, and cover it with a reasonably close material. As I stated before, probably the most important component of the system will be the cross-overs - so you can get the proper frequency roll-over to the individual speakers. I'll get back to you regarding amps. All the best, Scott
Pics of the system in this thread too. I thought it was odd that Jevs and I had the same sub box. This explains it all. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/81381-anyone-have-pics-audio-systems-355s.html
What kind of carpet should I use for the door panels? I can't find anything that's made speakers. Need to buy some asap!
This was one of the most interesting F355 stereo installs I had ever seen. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/401114-fs-cnc-motors-1996-red-tan-355-w-hre-wheels-more-21k-miles.html
Did a bunch of searching and this was the best I could find that would allow for the shallow depth mounting. I went ahead and followed your lead and ordered a set. I also ordered some acoustic carpet. How did you go about mounting the tweeters? Were you able to use the stock mounting bracket or did you need to rig something up?
