Today Ferrari introduces the 488 GTB. It's a turbocharged mid engine car. So, starting from today all the V8 Ferrari cars will be turbocharged. Ok, the Speciale production is not closed yet, but will be very soon, within some months.

We are entering into a new turbocharged era: all the V8 production line now is turbocharged, the F1 car is turbocharged, and all new V8 cars will be turbocharged for many but many years to come.

The very first turbocharged Ferrari (a V8...) was the 208 GTB turbo and the following improved model GTB turbo intercooler model, all two produced in very low numbers: you guys, maybe had better to move on and hurry up too.... :D

    ciao

Im going to guess that this is yet more fuel on the already raging fire of the GTB market ..... nice of them to give a passing nod to the original, i think.....

I think I am going to rename mine 'Sophia Loren'! The new one is more like what's her name on the Super Bowl halftime

No. Don't care for these newer Ferraris. I'd rather have the new Ford GT.

Did they make a front-mid engine turbo car before the new CA T? I can't think of one.

I'm not sure I like it (the looks). It almost looks a bit/too much McLaren-ish.. I dó know I háte LED lights, on any car.

Let me say I feel that the first thought that the 488 gives me is how really beautiful the 3x8 series in fact is. (Not that I need to convince anyone of you of course) Well, I've been called a conservative more than once in my life. A lot more !

    No, they didn't.

Old turbo road cars were only those in my pictures.

Then we skip to the California T and to the 488 GTB

i would say that, even if the last two turbo cars are by far better performing, the first turbo and all the previous 2/3X8 GTB were by far better looking

    Robert,
I have found it. It's the Ferrari badge.

If I would be asked I would vote for withdrawal of all CAD software in the body design studios and would give them a ruler and a set of circle templates.
And would hope for prettier results.

    Best Regards

    Martin

Had a look at the other pictures. I like the back. The side vieuw reminds me of a frog, getting ready to leap. The size of the rims/wheels looks way too big. I love Ferrari's. I don't like this one, the well looking behind isn't enough. (Hey ! Just like it is with women !!)

I personally don't care for a turbo. Here and there, fine, but not across the board for all of them all the time.

    Oh well

I agree with the Good Doctor...Customers ought to have a non-turbo option. What is the suggested price tag on the 488?

I vote for old school, I don't care for the lines, looks too much like a concept car
and agree with the good Dr, turbo's should be an option.

Stupid me, how could I fail to notice. Thank you, Martin.

I agree with your point of view regarding design. But unfortunately it is not people like us, with a small remainder of feeling for design and aesthetics, who buy the Ferraris of today.

I do love my Dodge with the Cummins Turbo Diesel, but that's another story.

To me the body looks like an evolution of the 458, with oversized air intakes for the required increased air flow. Kind of like the 430 relative to the 360....

Is this the first time they've used cc's per cylinder for a V8 name? I'm weak on racing 8's history....
(I kept trying to make the x.y liter 8 cylinder approach work. Turbo bump-up factor? No....)
