Watching some of the "experts" on the various car shows, I've heard our cars called a "MON-dee-all", while others say "mon-DYE-all"...I've always said "mon-dile"... What's the consensus???
In Italy there make it sound like poetry: Ferrrrr-ahhhrrrri Murn-deeee-arrrlllll! Over here some people make it sound like a piece of boiler equipment: Mon-die-all!
Depends! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/mondial/421507-how-do-you-pronounce-mondial.html Mondial ! How is it pronounced ? - PistonHeads However, the third one here (Romanian) sounds very nice! mondial pronunciation: How to pronounce mondial in English, French, Romanian
I believe you guys are spot on regarding the british pronounciation. But I believe the original pronounciation in italian should be something along the lines of "MondialEEEEEE" (can be accompanied with a typical hand gesture!) Kind regards, Nuno.
My Italian mechanic pronounces it MON (like 'Mon'ica) D (like the letter D'') AHHL (like open wide and say "ahhh") EH (like 'El'-ephant)
I knew someone who once was pronouncing it like Walter Mondale. I couldn't figure out if he was talking about the car or not.
Paul, that's actually the best guide to proper pronunciation of the word "MONDIAL", that I've seen in years. And of course, it literally means "WORLDWIDE" !! Good on ya, mate. Hank
Mon (as in mono) - dial (as in soap). Sorry, that's the way it's spelled. (or here in the South, just remember, "Ya'll"; Monday,Ya'll) Like what day is it?
My Mother was a Miss'ssipi girl, and altho she swore there was a difference, her "all", "awl", and "oil" were identical. Her "y'all"s must've had 8 L's in them as they hung on for an eternity. "Monday, ya'll"... my new Italian!!!
