Ok, so you would not consider fabspeed or tubi.......but when you need headers, are you going to replace with OE headers ?
I won't need headers in my lifetime. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139843280&postcount=6 I also have a different system which is very similar to Llenroc's...only difference in his and mine is the quitener thingy..lol There is also something else in the works by the Helmsmeister which should be released one day if all the changes can be worked out to his exacting standards.
I am on the waiting list for the Helmsmeister influenced design headers, actually I think I am at the top of the list for the 5.2 spec ones.
You need to cut the ends off those headers, hint, hint and you would really have something!!! And wrap it with this.... [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tlfq84sO0pQ[/ame] OH...I better stop.... it's not about Fabspeed!!
I'm way ahead of you Greg...lol The second system I mentioned in my post has a single outlet collector....Llenroc and I figured this out sometime ago....he is using a silencer to his liking and of course I've gone the way of motorcyle stuff.. This set-up is for off road use..lol My first system was for street use. The capristo blanket is very impressive but I am looking into a new thingy which involves titanium....more on this later.
They will include full heat shields, I will let Dave provide details when he is ready. As far as e.t.a my guess is early next year. They will be worth the wait since they will have had tons of R&D put on them versus simply being a copy of the originals.
If anyone is interested. I have a BNIB Fabspeed Xpipe supersport exhaust only (Not headers) for a Ferrari 355. I have sold the car before taking delivery of the exhaust and bought an F430. The exhaust is unopened. Please email me at [email protected] if interested.
Bumping an old thread up so I can say thanks to Joe Fabiani and Anthony from Fabspeed. I bought a set of Fabspeed headers for my 355 right before Christmas. There were a few shipping hiccups along the way, but Fabspeed's customer service team took care of me throughout the week between Christmas and New Years. Joe was even sending me emails from his smartphone during his Christmas ski trip. The headers were installed along with the DEI header blankets during my engine-out major. I just got the car back yesterday and the shop that did the work (Fast Cars in SoCal) did not have any problems with the installation. They lined up perfectly with the cylinder heads and with the cats and Y pipe on the other end. Fabspeed team, thanks for the great customer service and for the Christmas special you guys were running over the holidays which came out to $300 off on the header purchase. -Greg W.
Great to hear Greg. I am almost 3 years into having Fabspeed headers on my F355 and couldn't be happier about the purchase.
I will get in there and take a picture tomorrow, but I have been living in an extremely car hating environment (Guam) and the headers have been subject to all sorts of nasty conditions that I am sure that most of you would never consider driving your Ferrari in. I consider it the acid test for anything metallic. Despite this, I have to admit that although showing a lot of character, the Fabspeed header's have held their own... No, not as good as 321 stainless, but remarkably well for 304 stainless. Pictures will be forthcoming and Fabspeed should be proud of the durability.
Mine came off the car on Monday. I am sending them for coating. Here is what my SS Fabspeed headers look like after 4 seasons and 12,000 miles: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Watson, those are really good looking used headers. Although I prefer the 'tri-Y' system, my car came to me with Fabspeeds, and I'm happy to see that they will last.
Hi Guys I just wanted to comment on this thread. I have a 1999 355 GTS that arrived almost 2yrs ago , I have to admit that Fabspeed became a porno site for me!! LOL!! I must have looked at all the gleaming stainless parts 1000 times , I bought the Headers, cats, 02extenders, carbon fiber air-boxes and bmc filters!! Now my opinion--- first the bad,NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now for the good--- I don't work for Fabspeed but let me say, I couldn't be any happier!!!!!!! Oh the delicious sound when you shift in the 6000-7000 RPM range!! ( feel free to throw your radio away) So my brothers& Sistas buy with confidence these guys are awesome and will truly go to the ends of the earth to help you!! THANK YOU FABSPEED. Mike in NJ Keep up the great customer service
Hi Tim, yes, order part #893-14003 from Jegs. The description is "2 exhaust blankets, 20x24" each." Cost for the 2 pack was $86.99 including free shipping. I plan to bring my car down to LA for Ferrari Day at Supercar Sunday on 3/8. Feel free to check it out then. -Greg
$86 for 2 blankets....? the ones from Fabspeed are $1500.. I checked the Jegs website and located the blankets.. but they just seem to be a universal fit..? the picture above looks like they were made to measure for 355 headers..? M5guy mentioned DEI blankets above.. are those the same as the Jegs..?
Seriously, keep the heat in and get the power out Remember the stainless steel "boxes" the used to use back in the Smokey Yunich days LOL
Thermotec, DEI, Hardog Racing, etc etc all offer nearly identical, generic sized header blankets that are made from a flexible material that you form around the headers, then use their clips to secure the ends together. I have used them all. Every sports car I've owned ends up with headers (or in the case of turbo motors, a big downpipe) so this stuff gets the job done for me. Google long-tube headers for a Corvette Z06 LS6 or LS7 engine for example and you can see that a big sheet of blanket material is a less expensive shielding method when the primary tubes are long and spaced far apart. I've also used the gold foil reflective tape as a barrier layer when I don't want heat transfer through a firewall or pedal box, but on the 355 that is not really an issue. As noted before, Capristo, Tubi & Fabspeed all offer application-specific blankets that are custom-fit for the 355. I passed on these offerings because the other stuff has worked for me in the past.
thanks for the input.. do you have pictures of your headers with the blankets you used on them..? the picture above looks to be a made to measure fit.. which blankets are those..? given as you mentioned the other companies, are universal fit..
