What was added to stiffen the chassis? Very cool car by the way GLWS.
I have also seen Stan's car at his home in Maryland, prior to his move and as Toggie said, its a stunning car! Seems like a fair price. Stan, GLWS!!
I saw this car today at Cavallino track day and it is stunning. Stan, I didn't have a chance to meet you but if you're at the Concours tomorrow I'll be showing my 1986 328 GTB. It's red/tan with a brown leather dash. Can't be more than a few dozen like it in the USA. Stop by and say hello if you're walking through.
Dang Duane. I didn't see this post till just now. Sorry I missed you. But I did see your car. Very nice. I had a lot of fun at Cavallino this year.
I think it looks better than a 550 Barchetta also. To me it is screaming out for some larger HRE wheels. I think it would make the car look more modern. I wonder about body flex since it was not designed to be a convertible?
I am now offering my car for $210,000 in recognition of so many things. The heating up of the whole Ferrari market. The fact that this combination of beauty and usability is so special. There are many confirmed sales and offerings that support this IMO. I believe that she is going to be a $300K+ car. I think its easy to see that it's just a matter of time. To answer a question many have posed. I have no knowledge of additions to the chassis. Thank you for your many compliments offered here and elsewhere.
50,000 jump in value in just a few months? I wish my 355 would experience the same kind of leap. Good luck with the sale.
hi stan, just to add another question, that you may not know the answer to, was there any kind of additional bracing put in around the windshield, or just the A pillars, to insure that it would not collapse in case of a rollover?
I think the price is amazing. These cars are going nuts and no where near settled in value. Just like Carrera GT from 2012-2014... shot up like crazy during that time and now stabilized at 500-650. Good luck with the sale and i applaud the price increase!
Hi Ross, Nice chatting with you again. I have not disassembled the car so I can't say. I found some reading in which Straman commented on just how very stiff the structure was after the removal of the roof. The car is quite stiff. Not a flexi flyer by any means. But I wouldn't want to expect that the windshield header will act as a roll bar. She's a boulevarder IMO. Just a really quick and very beautiful one.
Stan, Great car. I hope you can sell it at what you are asking. I have always wondered if increasing the price of something that didn't sell at the lower price actually works, seems counter-intuitive. It'll be interesting to see how your experiment plays out. Not to mention that it would help all of us Ferrari owners with modified cars. Again, best of luck and keep us posted. Love your car.
There is a 550 Straman Spider listed as a consignment in Auctions America's upcoming Ft. Lauderdale sale, but no pictures. Same car? Est is $150-$200k.
