    Never tried the hybrid. I have both a "sport" and carbon fiber Hans. Spend the money on the carbon fiber. The decreased weight is really nice. This especially goes for helmets (you don't have to spend a fortune. I have a Sparco WTX-7).
    No issue for me with comfort, I'm not skin and bone, but definitely not fat. I think it is most important to get the right angle for the car seat.

    Skip Barber 3 day racing was epic. Hitting NOLA next month for advanced. HANS 3 plus bell sport worked perfectly for me in the formula car. Their suits were fine, I didn't hear any complaints. I brought my own. I would recommend helmets, shoes, and gloves without hesitation. Tear offs also...forgot mine and took some gravel in the visor that will probably have me swapping it out soon.

    This was one of my instructors....still somewhat star struck.

    I'm looking into the hybrid since most of the cars I am in have only standard 3-point belts. I ride shotgun with students during HPDE's.

    Divi is awesome! Olympic games in skiing four times from 1964 to 1992! Downhill speed record for a long time at 125 mph. She's a stud! Love teaching with her.

    Haha! Yah it was a real pleasure hearing the coaching AND the stories! She's lived an interesting life! We rapped a bit about iracing also - I didn't realize how much she had done to build that sim.

    Hope to run into you one day at VIR also. Trying to pace myself ; )

    I bought the HANS adjustable - not as baller as the carbon versions, but I wanted something that will work in the Skippy formula cars (10 degree setting) and my street cars (20-40). Once strapped in, I didn't even notice it was on, let alone it weighed a 1/4 lb more. Only one other kid had one.

    As for the school - loved it, lots of seat time and great instruction. I felt I learned more the faster I was going. If you haven't been, they gradually ramp up your RPM limits so you keep getting faster and faster. I had a hard time applying and experiencing threshold braking and trail braking in the slow sessions, but once things ramped up it clicked. When we finally got to do continuous laps balls to the wall and we could run down and pass people, I don't think I've had more fun in my life. Me and my boys eagerly put a deposit on the discounted advanced class after it was over. Only thing that has me a little hesitant is that I want to be able to drive my cars like a banshee, not some 135hp, 1200lb open wheeler - are the skills really that transferable?

    As for the track - NOLA is probably a great place for a beginning like me - flat and safe. Never driven and toured another track other than COTA (state of the art facilities and track), but NOLA's facilities seemed fine. They aren't ready for an F1 race, but perfect for Skippy.

    I'd highly recommend attending!!

    In my mildly-experienced opinion, yes, the skills are totally transferable. Buuut....

    You go from ~1k lbs to ~3k+ lbs

    You go from close to perfect balance to not - likely.

    You go from a steering that goes full lock in under a rotation to one that does multiple rotations....

    The balance is a lot different and how you stabilize the skippy car with throttle vs. brake etc - all a little different, but related.

    etc.

    Everything is more exaggerated and heavier. I'd recommend a car control school that gets you a lot of time on the skid pad. Skippy runs them and the M school facilities are exceptional.

    For my part, I found out I'm pretty fast - got a lot of good feedback. But, I have zero racecraft - LOL. Here I come NOLA ; )
