I know this has been posted before, but I thought I would throw it out to see if anyone had any new personal experience that may help my decision. Or at least reconfirm my thinking.

    Keeping front stock 225/40/18.

I am going to buy Michelin Pilot super sports.

    Stock size 265/40/18 - Diameter 26.3"

My car currently has 275/35/18 - diameter 25.6"

    I am considering 275/40/18 - Diameter 26.6"

I like the look of the wider rear tire, and I am wondering if the stock tire may look narrow for me. But, I am kind of a stock guy, that thinks the car originally came with 265/40's for a reason. I think the 275/40 will be a closer diameter match to the stock tire, keeping the suspension setup normal. Michelins seem to be available in all three sizes.

Car is stock and will be street driven. I just got the car and the tires are 10 years old, so I haven't felt comfortable pushing them at all. Matter of fact I am kind of scared of them. They feel hard as a rock, especially in the cooler temperatures. My seat of the pants makes me feel it has some oversteer tendencies.

So, should I go with stock size or the 275/40?

    Thanks.

and seems several owners here are on this setup..without issue.

I have 275/40/18 on the rear of my 348. I like how it fills the wheel well (f to B) better than the lower 35 series tire.

Tim, my tires are Bridgestone. I am happy that I went with the wider rear tires. Gives the back of the car a more aggressive look.

That is wide! I am thinking about sticking with stock upfront and 275/40/18 rear. Compromise.

Bob, I kept the 225/40/18's. Some have gone up to the 235's.

    Thanks Jimmy.

Need tires this season and am pondering the size thing. I am inclined to just do the OEM sizing but open to opinions.

    Bob,
I should be getting the tires mounted sometime this week. I went with 275/40 rear and 225/40 front. I will post some pics and let you know how it drives, so you can have something to ponder as you thaw out.

Ok Ernest. Look forward to hearing about them and seeing them. Im not doing them until the frozen tundra thaws which may be August. Ugh.

@ degrees on the outside thermometer this morning.

I considered going up a size in front on my new 18s because the recommended size would actually stand a little shorter top to bottom and have a smaller percentage side wall. The problem with going up a size is with the increased width, you will likely rub the fender liner at full lock. The guy at Firestone up here showed me that. When going up a wheel size in width, the profile matching numbers may look a little odd because the sidewall is not a perfect match front to back. But you need more meat on the rears to put the power down. You also need room to steer up front. That's why they are staggered in the first place. I have learned not to let it bother me and it will look much better when I lower the suspension a bit. The Enzo has a matched profile set up.

Your right... Challenge wheels have no business with a 295 on the back..
