Tyson may have, not 100% sure. And send FM out here, there's a few blokes that would go 12 rounds with him.
A few days ago marked 25 years when Douglas knocked out Tyson in Tokyo. Very interesting read right here- From the Vault: Mike Tyson is knocked out by 42?1 underdog Buster Douglas | Sport | The Guardian
Yep, 25 years ago! Watched all his early fights in awe, but he will be remembered by most as the ultimate trainwreck. Some good (well maybe not good, but unbelievable) stories in taming the beast about Tyson. He is a scary dude.
He is a beast alright! Absolutely loved watching his early fights........................pre-jail stint. His life is definitely an ultimate train wreck.
I watched all of his fights as well. He was a terror in the ring. One time I met Mike Tyson in Atlantic City. He was walking in the lobby with his wife at the time. He was one of the nicest guys, very cordial and respectful. Took a photo with him. You would never have known he was one of the most devastating fighters in the business. We joked about the time he knocked out Michael Spinks in what I recalled as being 45 seconds. He quickly corrected me laughing and said "I think it was 30". Who could argue with Mike Tyson Anyway good memory of a great fighter.
Wow, that would have been awesome. What year would that have been? Wasn't Robin givens was it? Don't know if I would have the guts to approach him these days. Have never actually met a pro boxer. Maybe I'll visit Floyd next time I'm in Vegas. My wife is fascinated by Floyd and all his antics and was interested in going to see him in Sydney....until his visa was cancelled!
Cool story! I would love to meet Tyson one day. A friend is a pro boxer. Les "Lock n Load" Sherrington. Les was supposed to have a title fight in the UK this weekend coming but sprained his ankle the day before he was to fly out on the 20th of January. So the fight has been postponed for now. Asked me to tag along, but can't get time off from work that quickly and it's A LOT harder to get away with the kids these days. He is a great guy and he hits hard. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No Andrew it was well after Robin Givens. It was after his incarceration probably about 4 -5 years ago. He was very approachable. What was interesting is that I expected him to be larger than life and he was about 5'9" I would say but still in good shape. I have attended heavyweight fights before and most of those guys are tall and massive. To think that Mike Tyson at 5'9" could devastate all of them was pretty amazing. The fight game has lost quite an attraction in Tyson. Thank God we have Gennady (GGG) to keep us interested. Looking forward to his fight Saturday.
People always look bigger on TV. And yes, looking forward to GGG this weekend also. Hope he puts on another show for us by knocking Murray out.
It's this weekend already!? Thank goodness, I have something to look forward to this weekend. After F1 and MotoGP seasons are done, I have nothing to keep me busy. I don't follow any other sports, except a few boxers.
Oh, ok. I think he is still married to her? I guess that low centre of gravity helped Tyson unleash those amazing uppercuts. That is how I will always remember Tyson at his most ferocious. Absolutely brutal. Right hook, right uppercut, lights out. Still want to see G fight Canelo.
I also follow the Supercross season in the US and the ASP surfing tour. Bucket list - see a SX live (Vegas final round) and a Trestles or Pipe ASP....sigh, one day
It will happen. Guarantee it. Mayweather is already the most hated boxer today. If not, he will be the most hated boxer in history.... In my humble opinion.
Anybody have a good source for tickets for this fight? I started searching today but most don't have a good seat map yet.
Before all the hype starts and distorts my vision of this fight.... Outside the ring face it, Mayweather really doesn't want this fight, he has to take it. He'll have all the pre fight advantages, except he has a tremendous amount to loose. He'll have to be feeling more pressure than usual. Pacquiao doesn't have near the same. I like Freddy Roach to be the best possible trainer to put a game plan together. Inside the ropes he hasn't fought anybody with the speed and foot work of Pacquiao in many years, if ever. Pacquiao will be the more active, no question. With his footwork, he should nullify Mayweather's lead and counter right's by circling to his right. That, along with his jumping in and out style should foil Mayweather's offense as much as possible. If he can't avoid the right, which is Mayweather's money punch, and is THE punch to throw against a southpaw, then Pacquiao will get beat up pretty bad. Pacquiao's best chance is to just out work Mayweather, and keep him as defensive as possible. So to me, the key is the Mayweather right and Pacquiao's ability to avoid it. Pacquiao has no punch that Mayweather has to be aware of. He just has to throw in combination and impress the judges with more activity. Still picking Mayweather, but I don't think it will be as lopsided as I first did. So com'on. Now is the time to make predictions, and why, not when the heads start talking.
I NEED TWO ALSO. PM ME PLEASE. JUS BOOKED 8 days Wow it jumped to $2000 plus a night fri and sat regular room at the major hotels
Yep, looking forward to it myself. Well, there you have it! You sound spot on there mate. Mayweather will have tonnes of pressure on him leading into this fight as he has everything to lose. I predicted FM for the win on points originally, but have had a re-think about it the last few months and I think if Pacman keeps busy as he always does, he will win on points. Even if he misses half of them, just keep throwing them to keep FM on the back foot defending himself. This will not allow FM to throw as many punches, if any good ones at that. I mentioned once before, I can't think of any fighter that FM has fought that throws as many punches as Pacquiao. So that will be enough to throw off FM's usual game plan. Pacman for the win! Wow! I have friends here in Australia booking flights to Vegas for the fight. Not too sure if they know this about the accom, but more importantly how much the tickets to this fight cost. They will be will sold out in 5 minutes or less. Wonder how many celebs we will see at this event? They get free tickets right? They do here in Australia at boxing events which is how they end up with most of the ringside seats.
Have a friend going. Pacman will need to knock out Mayweather. He doesn't have the power to do it. Mayweather will win. My Dad and younger brother are bigger boxing fans. Since we are in Canada, not as much boxing on their TV. Me I'm the smart one and have Direct TV. So they end up at my house, most weekends. Back in 98/9 time frame, I was living in Toronto. Girlfriends friend Luanne was dating Lenox Lewis. Met him once. They worked at a retail store together. I was picking up the girlfriend and so was Lewis. Very nice soft spoken guy.
Interesting article from Marquez about this fight. Juan Manuel Marquez Mayweather-Pacquiao ?The one that might get desperate, will be Mayweather.? | Tha Boxing Voice And cool story about Lennox! Always liked him, a great fighter and a seemed like a very cool guy.
Interesting article. But I don't think Pacman can get very many punches in. He doesn't have the power to hurt Mayweather. The judges also always seem to be in Mayweathers corner.
