Hi Dan, I have a chip in the paint between my intakes. No need for a refinish but I was wondering what paint you use. Is it standard Rosso Corsa? I just want to be able to dab it on with a touch up brush.
Steve, VHT wrinkle red paint on a q tip. Put 3 coats on lightly and hit it with a heat gun. Keep in mind engine temps alter the color of the red paint so it will not match perfect. The issue is Ferrari never uses a primer just paint on metal so it eventually flakes off.

Do you have to remove the old paint? If your valve covers look good but a little dirty can you just clean with a solvent then spray a fresh coat of the wrinkle paint over the top? Also, do you wipe the raised parts after painting or just sand later? Thanks.
The paint comes off with next to no effort. I recommend always taking it down to metal and starting with a clean slate. With something like a valve cover you will end up flaking the paint off just trying to clean it up. We machine it after to get the brushed metal look.
I think this one of the best things you can do to your car with such a huge impact. Nothing makes the engine look old/worn than flaking paint in the engine bay. Excellent job! Erik
