    I don't think you are cynical at all; you are just reporting a trend.

    I think most drivers kept their designs throughout their careers, Schumi (although he changes to full reds due to Rubens similar white design), Rubens, Webber, ..

    Personally, i've always think it's better for drivers to maintain a certain design throughout their career, but exception for certain special events, like Felipe full red and beautiful helmet at Sao Paolo 2013.

    F1 announced today that drivers would also be limited to eating the same breakfast once the season starts in Australia.

    It would be nice if the drivers name, or number, was on the car in a size that was legible. But I guess that would use up too much advertising space.

    UK (at least) soccer teams are now barred from changing their kits more than once every 2-3 years for this very reason.

    Latest from Sniff;

    Agree. Never need to see a NASCAR, Indy, Endurance, Sprint, NHRA, etc helmet to determine which car it is. Even MotoGP doesn't need one helmet for life to tell who is who.

    Seems a lot of cars have plenty of open space these days for a big number on the side.

    Totally stupid rule. Look at how changing helmets during the season for college football has helped drive excitement and merchandising. Another terrible decision.

    It is. But, that just goes to show that f1 could make money and let the drivers have some creativity...or advertising.

    Hey they get them for free so why not? There are football players that shower/shave/change to a clean uniform at halftime. Whatever superstition keeps you calm and relaxed. GTS

    not going to work, the head size changes in proportion with relative performance and attitude of any driver :) :)

    primary mandate is to have properly fitting helmet, failing that, ones head could be rattling within or not being able to be worn at all... if restricted to one helmet :) :)
