does anyone have pics of what a rusty door sill looks like?

All I seem to be finding is "after" pics, but no before.

i have some rust on my drivers side door sill. Are the actual sills made of steel? Could the rust be comin from underneath the sill?

    thanks in advance!

you want to see a rusty door sill? My the car's frame is fine, But my screws were rusty and the sill it's self was very rusty on mine.

I have the ones I pulled off my car in my metal scrap bin still.

I'll try to snap some pics for you in a few min.

The door sills are painted steel. The sills rusting is a common problem. They are a little tricky to remove because they are glued down.

The sill plate is made of low grade steel and rusts easily.
I still have the old sill plates sitting in the garage but no pics.
I would not be concerned about the frame below...its very robust and rustproofed well...just remove the old sill and replace with a carbon fiber sill.

The door sills on these cars are really an eye sore when they get beat up and a poor introduction to a beautiful interior. They are large so they stand out as well.

Lots of ways to go with them as an enhancement.

    thanks for the responses!

My passanger side looks brand new, but the driver sill has definitely seen better days. Couldn't find any pics to compare what everyone was talking about regarding rusty door sills. Was a little concerned for about a minute.

I guess I'll be ordering door sills today.

    Thanks again!

If you don't want the carbon sills then buy a new set of OEM sills and have them powder coated.

Mine are perfect after 6 years.

Not sure which sills you were referring to... but if mine, I purchased the CF sills from Carbonio and purchased the aluminum letters from a guy I know who made them special order for me. Kind of a pain cutting out the double sided tape and aligning the letters properly on the sill.

Hey Steve, sills are from PowerSpeed in Japan. Great quality. I'm sure others out there are great too, but choices were not as plentiful years ago when I got mine.

Just did mine last 2 days, removed, glass beaded and Rustcheck primer and 3 coats gloss black Rustcheck paint. Everything else was fine below, all screw holes rust proofed and oiled, should be good for awhile. Carbon fibre is nice, but original parts are authentic to me.

I have had the Carbonio sills for two years now. I like the look.

They were easier to install than the effort necessary to remove the old ones.

The only gripe, and it is not their fault, is you need to be a little more careful entering & exiting the car. The high gloss finish will show some scratches.

    Happy customer here.

I called them yesterday and Mark returned my call within a couple hours and posted the pics in this thread 5 minutes later.
