I like to drive fast and play around with other cars. within the limits. doing a 2 lane race + blasting past a stop sign is to me close to the definition of stupidity. Sadly stupidity claims lives

The real stupidity lies on the spectators. Never never watch from the side lines without protection. Standing next to the cars at the line is the safe place. This was bound to happen.

SO sad! Take it to the track. That mustang had slicks on it too and must have been heavily mod'd if he was racing a GTR.

How did he lose the rear end with tires that big? It looks like that car was set up for strictly drag racing. It still got smoked. The GTR is lucky it was fast enough to get out of the Mustangs way but probably would have been much better for the pedestrians if it hit the GTR. It might have kept it from hopping up on the curb.

any lawyers want to chime in on something like this ? : regarding California street racing laws ?

Btw you guys know this is going to bring down a lot of negative outcomes from anyone driving a sports anything. Moderation is everything but when LEO are going to be pushed to get anything modified cited, towed and if that new law passes "SEIZED" this is going to give fuel to the Law Enforcement Agencies they have been asking for sometime now.

It's very bad for all GT-R owners, especially. Now we will be grouped together with the type of drivers like Mustang and Camaro street racers.

GTR's are cheap to come by. Reasonably priced for high hp. This combo will attract street racers that race for money and most dont have an inch of the skill necessary. Great car though

Hard to believe people still do this with everything being recorded these days. I'm sure they could nab you just with the video later.

You guys better watch this one:

Chatsworth street-racing deaths spur move to allow police to seize vehicles

    "move-to-allow-police-to-seize-vehicles"

so if you pass a slow person on the road and there have been many threads started that a fellow Ferrari owner passed someone and it was considered unsafe / reckless.

LEO's & LEA's will have the right to seize your car with probably little PC, so if your pass some one 35mph over the posted then you're done !

First, let me begin by saying I hate street racers with a passion. They've ruined the car scene for many enthusiasts across the board.

During the 2002-2004 racer crackdown with the Drag Net forces throughout California, seizing personal property was the consequence of getting caught. So, LA's City Council brings it up again. Poop-D-doo. The racers take their life of crime outside of LA. What did the Council accomplish? Nothing. It's all reactionary B/S posturing that only hurts true enthusiasts on their way to a formal venue. I'm glad the deep thinkers at the City Council plowed through mountains of data showing what worked, what didn't to arrive at this decision. Absolute crap.

Sounds like civil forfeiture, all in the name of safety. ;)

The kid is charged with murder, $2MM bail and it turns out he wasn't even driving. Video is played endlessly on mainstream media. Meanwhile LA cops shoot and kill a skid row guy and they get a paid vacation and body cam videos no one gets to see.

As I said earlier, the actions of these idiots reflect poorly on all GT-R owners (not all of whom are street racers), and will make life significantly more unpleasant for California GT-R drivers when it comes to interaction with law enforcement.

Especially since the GT-R driver hasn't turned himself in yet, even though numerous videos identifying the car, the shop it came from, and the car's usual driver, are posted on YouTube and other sites. These guys really liked to show off their street racing activities on YT and social media.

Sounds like the GT-R crowd is being targeted regardless of front plate. If you give them any excuse to pull you over and in some case no excuse needed(unconstitutional) you'll get hassled. Probably any type of obviously modded car and you're a target for a shake down, especially now.

Thanks to these idiots, I had to waste 2 hours of my time removing window tint on my car that was 5% darker than the legal limit in CA, just to be safe, and help avoid being stopped for a fix-it ticket.

I went to one street race when I was 18 when the whole fast and furious craze was going on. Never went to another one. The stupidity is unbelievable.
