Very cool video. It's really facinsting. The F12 is surprisingly out accelerated. I would not have guessed this and am wondering why? Is the McLaren just quicker? This would be surprising, though I've never compared these two cars power to weight ratio. I'm also noricing there is an added wing on the F12 creating drag that would for sure slow it down. The driver of the F12 didn't seem to be very responsive to the light. The mcLaren driver gets the jump on two of three races.

EDIT: I just re watched and saw that the mclaren is tuned.

Stock for stock the Mclaren is normally the faster car anyhow. This result doesn't surprise me at all. I believe we will see the same results With the 488 vs the F12 in a few months

Stock for stock the F12 is considerably faster once it gains traction.

The McLaren is running with an ADDITIONFAL 101HP, that is a lot of added torque as well

The cumulative quarter mile times on the internet for both cars listed below:

    (stock) McLaren MP4-12C 10.6 @ 136 mph
    Ferrari F12 10.6 @ 137 mph

The Ferrari is suffering from aftermarket 22” wheels on the rear of the car which creates much slower acceleration due to a larger diameter. The car also is fitted with very low profile tires which also make it significantly harder for the car to find traction off the line. If the owner of the car is looking for faster quarter mile times he need to go to stock wheels and tires. Also at 137 mph the rear spoiler is adding downforce which is also not helping.

nope lost everytime on german highways from about 100kmh to over 300kmh vs the 650s.
they are just to light those mcs and the 675 lt will be with 0-200kmh in 7.9sec well ahead.
credits where they belong to. love my f12 but the macs are no joke.
you could argue the 650 is stronger than the 12c but i guess it would be maximum a draw for the f12.

my car is runing fin vbox times around 23-25secs up to 300kmh witch is inline with other friends f12 cars and he is ahead if the aventador

    we need the facelift

Not from what I've seen. More exciting engine? Yes ... Faster? No. The 650s will take the f12 by a small margin in just about every situation I've seen. A substantial weight advantage is hard to beat....

Doesn't change that if it were a choice, I'd still take the F12 over the 650s.

I think people forget the F12 is a GT car and not a mid engine sports car (weighs 306lbs more thank the MC) It's actually a tribute to the F12 that this comparison happens so often showing how well balanced the car really is. A better comparison will be the lighter mid engine 488 to the McClaren, stock the Ferrari has more HP per liter so modified its even more interesting. Turbos change everything!

For fun let's see what happens if we put twin turbos on the F12 :)

No surprise here- especially given the tweaks to the McLaren. Look at the curb weights of these cars (McLaren weighs something like 740lbs less!) and thats 80% of the difference, more so with the rolling test. The fact the McLaren has the motor closer to the rear = better off the line traction. That car is insanely fast.

And yeah, I'd still rather have the F12.
