By coincidence, La Grange came on the local radio a few days ago while driving around town with the wife, while we in the Porsche. One of the few songs she permits me to "turn up to 11"! T
For those that want to drive a bit faster.....this version of My Way....1 min 10s in and hit the gas pedal...Sid Vicious, Great British icon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T88FkGV6gOo
This thread just gets better. Another group who's CD's been gathering dust in a cupboard and all but forgotten about. By the time my Cali T arrives my playlist should keep me going for the next year!!
The old school crowd starting to weigh in! Sinatra "Nothing But the Best" album is top rotation in our car's MP3 player. Great album .T
Nice! And hey, we can't knock Sid V's version mentioned earlier. Made a great final scene in Good fellas!
Can't knock a punk legend. Never seen that version before. Keeping with the punk theme, Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones is a good driving song IMO. Of course, like many of their songs, it's kind of short, so hard to get too far down the road....T
Here are a few more to dust off... - Talking Heads, Burning Down the House - Terence Trent D'Arby, Wishing Well - Sly & the Family Stone, I Want to Take You Higher (2 downshifts on the boom-lacka-lacka ...) - Temptations, Psychedelic Shack ...and in the local band category: - The Rolling Stones, Gimme Shelter
Ah the Stones. One of my favourite bands. Several good driving rifs. Apart from the obvious 'Satisfaction' and 'Jumping Jack Flash', I like 'Paint it Black' for Marmist 'Driving too Fast' a good song. Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OXqBQIA99c and the poor F car at 2'10" Thin Lizzy - 'The Boys are back in Town'
So when can we expect to see the release of "The Fchat Collection: Greatest Driving Songs"? How do we split the royalties?
I volunteer to be on that committee!! Of course, we'll need some young 'uns to balance my bias to the classics. . T
Winding up the 458 to 9k with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Rq77OyFSI Not conventional, but never gets old
Circa 1786, Mozart. It WAS paid for by The Imperial Italian opera company... Has to be one of the earliest driving songs... Wolfgang would definately have been an FCar owner.
Play this in rush hour traffic....You will get home quicker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIbYCOiETx0
