I think that's the mugshot of Sadam Hussein as he was pulled out of the dirt hole he was hiding in. Bob posted some jokes in the Sadam thread around the same time he changed his avatar.

 

Mark, Art360, I got your PMs and will respond via the same channel. Mark, yesterday morning Bob and I were talking about engine out failures on C5A cargo planes and he mentioned your name in the conversation. I've been walking around in shock all day.

Out of respect for Bob's family which we did not know very well, those of us with knowledge on how he passed have pledged to stay silent on the matter until his nearest relative gives us their blessing. It's the right thing to do.

I only met Bob in person once at the F-Chat US GP party, but man he was one heck of a friendly, funny, all around neat guy.
So sorry to hear this.

 

these losses leave a mark. we are all a family. many we only know as a screen name and based on the posts. I guess we all assume that health, wealth and wisdom is forever. sad loss. we will miss you.

We would cross paths in real life on Foothill road in Santa Barbara. Two Ferrari's meeting each other and would wave.

His posts here and his funny non-sequiturs. I never met him face to face, but I really got to know him through his posts.

It is very sad to see an Fchat brother go so unexpectedly. RIP Bob.

I met him in 2007 at the bar of Quintessence in Mt Tremblant.
For the next 2 days we were in the same group of Ferrari Pilota and he was the one who always entertained all of us with his constant jokes and witty comments.
He will be missed....

RIP .....they are all blazing a path for us. Old saying live each day to its fullest; and as we grow older it becomes truer, as we loose those we love. And the truest of all: The sadness now is because of the happiness then.

It is sad when a loved and accomplished person or friend dies. Everything is lost but what you gave, built, and instilled in others. I think it was Steve Job who said it is like an on off switch.

 

He was pretty proud of that, thought it was funny. It was for a humor website - they sent two girls out offering threesomes to people and secretly filmed how they reacted. Bob was more than happy to play right along and invited them to hop into his CS.

We had a cars and coffee gathering shortly afterwards, and he immediately pulls his phone out saying "guys, you have to check this out...."

 

I loved the chats I had with him on forum.

I'll be 89 soon and I'm beginning to look over my shoulder once in a while but I remember Satchel Page's quote, " Don't look back 'cause somethin' might be gainin' on you." Had a cardio check up yesterday and got a clean bill ..and then a big bill. Anyway, I never met Bob but I enjoyed his posts and that's the way to do it, Leave em' laughing.
