They might be using a clothes pin and a playing card.

I saw a Mazda race and the rotarys were so quiet that you never knew they were approaching. There cars are going to have only tire noise and could miss them as go by.

If it is racing will die IMHO. The talent is great but it has zero passion, zero soul. It's like watching a football game on mute. Sound is such an integral part of exciting life experiences. The whole e race is like being in the dentists office listening to multiple cavities being filled at once.

Once the marketing buzz wears off it will be gone.

    I hope! ;)

I'm waiting for that to happen with F1 now. Turbo V6s are quiet compared with the screaming V10s of the Schumacher era.

I agree about the marketing buzz, but I'm excited to have an open wheel race within walking distance of my condo building. Wish I had a view of the circuit. The Beijing race proved these drivers compete hard regardless of fuel type, so anyone that can appreciate the strategy of racing can still enjoy this race series.

No doubt they race hard. I also think the cars look cool. It's just that annoying whine that completely kills it for me.

To be fair, last year I watched only 50% of the F1 races due to the sound also. The PC Police are ruining everything I enjoy. IMO racing is supposed to be a raging fury of sound, speed, and danger. Let them go as fast as humanely capable and let the engines/cars be as loud, fast, and technologically advanced as possible. I think F1 should be teetering on the razor's edge of sanity and technology.

Excited to have a race right outside my front door! Anybody know what the rules are regarding items/bags being brought into the GA area?

I think I hear the race cars practicing ... oh, wait ... that was just a 458 cruising down the boulevard ;)

So how was 'the race'? Is this a show of things to come, or was it a big snoooore fest?
    Any pix to share?

I saw a few minutes on tv. Aside from the cars (ugh) it was sad to see drivers like Heidfeld and Sato reduced to this.

The amazing thing is, drivers like Heidfeld, Prost, et.al, would rather be doing Formula E
    than Indy Cars...

I have to think that this type of 'racing' will fade away quickly with out support of fans, and sponsor $$$$$$.

But Formula One cars are using battery technology to increase power and it is going over to street cars like the Porsche 918? model that just came out. So anything that helps development of car technology isnt all that bad. Watched the race and it sort of reminded me of slot car racing. The cars go fast but dont make any noise. I guess they did it in South Florida because all of the old people in the condos in Miami would have complained about the noise if the used regular Formula One cars that had loud exhausts!
