This car will go down as a highly collectible future classic (if not already) unless Ferrari decides to bring back the manual transmission for nostalgia's sake, which is unlikely. :p

Interesting how most of the enthusiasts prefer the manual transmission. The new car buyers spec the car with a slush box.

The buyers from the 1970' and 80's had different expectations.

It's funny how cars like the 430 manuals and this one still have the F1 gear indicator on the dash. Just shows how few there are.

Yes 182 the RS Touring looks amazing. Count me in for a 1/5 share on lot 183 the Daytona Spider if your group wants to bid as a syndicate!

Hope to see you there. I'll be the one who's wife is holding my arm down all evening!

    Cheers.

I wonder if that's the car that was owned by a certain MLB pitcher? I watched the price get cut by 15% when it wouldn't sell. That was a few years ago. I knew it was special then.

Ferrari V12's just suit a manual box, fact. This is the reason 575's and 612's are so collectable, happy shopping!

+1 wow if true that is unbelievable. At what point do manufacturers recognize the demand and bring the manual transmission back? This is 4x of what an F1 version would be worth. Crazy.

And if ferrari makes a stick F12 then the price of my stick 599 with tank back down and the buyer of this car for 620 will cry too. Lol.

Ferrari will not build manual transmission cars for the same reason that they will not build 250 GTOs or F40s even though they would sell all that they could build. First, the reason they stopped was because demand was so low. Second, it produces inferior performance. For once I was right in my estimation that the 550 would be a solid collector. Because once a model run is ended and the next model run commences, it's no longer strictly about performance.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet.

Couldn't believe there were so many buyers going that deep on the 599. One of the last two bidders was across the isle from me. He wanted it bad but was really out at $400k. Kept jumping back in up to $600k. Only to loose. He couldn't believe it!

I doubt think this has anything to do with the 550 market. Every 550 was a manual. 400% isn't a premium people are willing to pay for more driver involvement and less performance. For this auction, exclusivity was the dominant factor.

That said, 550s are at the bottom of the depreciation curve and imho will do nothing but go up. But this is in a different category altogether.

    Wow, that's 599 GTO money.

Quick, everyone go find the owners of the 19 other manual 599 and see if they would be willing to sell. :p
