Fiorano is a special car. One of about 100 . I too think spiders will be high in value, as they already have greater resale overseas according to other members .

Someone is trying to capitalize on this sale. There's a Fiorano on eBay for 109k BIN.

If one likes titanium F1 spiders.....there is a beauty up here at Daytona with about 8k on it. Its like new and with the American dollar as strong as it is, you could grab this one at a huge discount. They used to always have Bs around but they were all cleaned out last summer and fall.

I wonder what the silver with green strips challenge car went for today. He took a best offer somewhere under 150,000 for it.

There really isn't much value difference between Spider/GTS/B. In the future maybe but the Fiorano sale this thread is about does not saying anything about the relative value of a non-Fiorano spider and a GTS/B. It sold for crazy money because it was a Fiorano. Limited edition, 1 of 100, rare, collectable, what every you want to call it.

NADA currently lists spiders around 10% more than B's and 5% more than GTS's. Probably the most reliable unbiased source currently available.

Why is everyone arguing and being so disrespectful to other members about this? It's so childish. Chill out and go drive you F355. They are all great.

People in the know, know what F-cars are in demand. You Boob are not in the know. Just because you own a Soider(spider) you take it personally. Its nothing personal, its just the way it is. All 355s are beautiful and a work of art. The Bs just have the whole roof line that flows so perfectly.

Gerry. I am on a phone. If there are typos , sorry.

You my friend have been prociferous in your prifessed knowledge of what the market is and isn't. I personally would not be so presumptuous. In this case there is a market data point that on a chart sets a high. On a sub chart of body styles it also sets a high.

There was recently a Fiorano here in nj that was available for 62k. We all missed the market. Simple.

1997 Carrera S. Black/Tan with the aerokit. It has been a great car. It has almost cost me nothing in the 10 years that I have owned it other than oil changes, one new set of SO4 Bridgestones and an oil volume sensor, which it ended up not needing. You gave me great advice on your old F355, and I am glad I took the chance and bought it.:) I am also glad that you rejoined the club with some nice examples.

Very true. It is nice to see that others appreciate the timeless lines of these cars other than our little group.

FWIW, top asking prices on Fioranos have been in the $100k to $125k range for the last 4 years. The ebay car is not an exception, it's the norm. The auction car was an exception.

This thread makes me laugh. Everyone thinks they know what's going on and it's fchat armchair quarterbacking at its finest. Unless you're there and could inspect the car and watch the bidding and know the motives, it's all wild speculation. I go to all the RM, Gooding, and Scottsdale auctions and have for years and this happens at least once in every sale.

I was there with Malex in the reserved seats and watched the whole thing. First, it was a nice car and Gooding presented it well. It's a $100k car. Two people, including one woman, wanted it and they bid on it because they thought it was nice looking. I heard afterward that the woman who bought was particularly excited because she cannot drive a manual.

Sales like this do not mean anything for the market as a whole other than people can overpay for similar cars and not feel as ridiculous. As was said, for used cars such as this (as opposed to collectible classics), auction results are not the real world. Two years ago an ordinary, well worn blue 1987 328 GTS sold for $90k in scottsdale. Are GTS 328s going for that much, especially well worn ones? I think not.

Some of these are just used cars and people get overly excited. Just because two people get caught up in a bidding war it doesn't change a whole market on what is a mostly ordinary car.

    Andrew -

Part true, however you being condescending doesn't help the matter either. Also to call a limited production 355 Fiorano Ferrari a "used car" is perhaps the most absurd comment on this thread. Is a 180k car "a used car" from the "reserved seats" these days?

I recall 7 years ago ranting on F chat about Sheehan and how he mentioned ONLY the super cars would appreciate and all other Ferrari's would languish in a slow deflationary spiral as they are all "used cars". I called him on the phone to get his opinion, he was stubborn, curt, however we talked for 10 min. Looking back my thoughts that all these car's are collectable from the 308's to the 512M & 512bbi have proven to be correct.

So to say that the 355's are ordinary cars is beyond silly, you sound a bit like Michael Sheehan. However you're not in your 70's and I feel safe saying you don't feel only true Ferrari's are 12-cylinder cars that pull the cart.

If the world economy doesn't explode all these cars will go up. I have enjoyed reading vintage 355 articles lately, and who doesn't like the Top Gear when Clarkson has to have the "best car ever made".

The car was considered epic when it came out, it is fantastic today, drives great, huge boot, so many consider it one of if not THE best sounding Ferrari, looks amazing, and in the collector car world is limited production. The car has suffered from expensive issues, I was once a vocal detractor on the site about the running costs of the car - However, once the issues have been taken care of (most valve guides have been addressed on the early cars that needed to be, they don't all go bad) the 355 is a reliable car.

All Ferrari's are Collectible Classics ........ Period.

I have sold 2 355b's in the past year. One a 96 six speed red tan, 45k. The other a 98f1 red black..I won't even tell you the price, but it was below the 45k I sold the 96 for. Mind you the F1 had a nun diagnosed engine issue, but if they are now 100k cars I should have sold that F1 for double what I sold it for. But knowbody would have bought it.

Real world pricing is in between the 45 and 60k area. Anything over that, the cars sit and sit. Sellers want to move inventory. Not sit on cars with dream land pricing.

If that 180k 355 was advertised on eBay, or at a used car dealer, people would be laughing at them. But because it sold at an auction it's a good number to go on. It's not. It is no where near reality. The women who bought it liked it because it was pretty. She could have cared less about it being a fiorano. She obviously had deeper pockets then the next guy. She over paid, and everybody here knows it. I think she was bid up but the others who were bidding on it Personaly, then they dumped it on her.
