Patrick, Your question was not a full derailment of our friend Furmano's thread, but everytime there is a discussion on colors, then comes the question of "how many"... The two GTBs I have mentionned above, euro cars been for sale in France, but originally from Germany, 77414 and 78118, have been advertised for a very long time before selling, about two years. They illustrate the problem with "Black Metallic" very well. Both were simply advertised as being "Black"; but both having been inspected by friends, turned out to be "901/C" which is "black", but: metallic (I still have a nagging doubt about 78118 who looked very black in pics, more than 901/C) Rgds
Yes, it is great indeed on a 328; the factory-produced cabriolet was "Giallo" with black leather, as you know... Rgds
By the way. I strongly suspect 82669 is Giallo too. I know the owner but have never seen the car but knowing him it is yellow.
I had 82669 as an US "GTB" but forgot to draw Furmano's attention on it, it seems not to be on his listing yet... It is obviously a late production car, and there are at least two other GTBs (not US cars) close to this one that are also "Giallo" (82232, 82411). Funny how suddenly there were more "Giallo" 328 in the last year of production. Rgds
I doubt he has 82332. Its yellow Also 76514 has the assy # 15 Never gave him my complete list. Turned into a pissing match and didn't want to play.
Below is a picture of a later model US 328 GTB in the giallo/nero colorway shown a few years ago at Cavallino. I don't know the serial number of that car. If anyone has it, post it up. Is 82669 a giallo/nero colorway? Could 82669 be the car below? Any ideas on it's whereabouts? I'll add it to the list. What does that mean? Did we get into a pissing match? I took your list and went through it and added most of it to the registry. There were a few Mondial's, GTS's and Testarossa's on that list and I stripped those out. -F Image Unavailable, Please Login
No we didn't. Others wanted to argue. Just not interested. I know exactly where it is. Tell me where photo is and I'll tell you. I doubt it though. Never been registered and still has delivery miles. Not sure how many years since it was out in daylite.
Cool. I appreciate your additions to the list. When you added your list of cars, the registry grew by about 30%. I welcome any and all additions to the list as long as the cars are US 328 GTB. I cross check any numbers against various databases and VIN checks. The photo I refer to is above. It is of an 88.5/89 MY US 328 GTB, in a Giallo/Nero colorway and was shown at Cavallino around 2011 I believe. I tried to find a list of all cars shown at Cavallino but I came up short. So if your associate's car is 82669 and it hasn't seen the light of day, I'm guessing the car in the picture is 82332. Or the car in the picture is a third Giallo/Nero 88.5/89 US 328 GTB. It does seem like many of these cars are hidden away. But all cars on the registry with dealer information next to them are cars that I have either found and contacted the owner or have seen them offered for sale at some point in the last 4 years or so. -F
I know where 82332 has been its entire life. Never been to Cavallino. My store sold it and I know both owners. Doubt it has ever been outside of California.
Was the original dealer for 82332 Walnut Creek Ferrari? And do you know who the original dealer was for 82669? And when you say there is a local owner with a Giallo/Nero '89, is that local to Austin or Nor Cal? And is this car 82669? -F
82332 was WCF On 82699 I don't know. I know the owner well but do not see him often. I can see if I can find out. Not sure what matter it makes. The idea of one per dealer is just not how it happened.
Giallo '89's added. Actually the picture of the giallo car was taken at the 2001 Concorso Italiano so it probably was either 82332 or 82699. And 82699 is a very late US 328 GTB. It's nice to see a couple more yellow GTB's on the list! 😊 It really is a great looking color in the 328!
I wish I knew...the assembly numbers' logic on 328s is still not clear to me. It seems simpler on carbed cars, as it seems that consecutive series were used for each market of destination, from the first to the last carbed "B" for each market (one serie from 1 to last for euro "B"s dry-sump LHD; another for US "B"s wet-sump LHD; and one for RHD cars, subdivided in UK dry-sumps and Australian Wet-sumps) On 328 GTBs, my own euro 81085 which was built on April 5, 1989 according to the factory, has "08"! Each time I open the engine hood, it makes me scratch my head in disbelief... It is not the 8th 328 GTB built, but probably "about the 1250th"... Nor is it the 8th euro 328 GTB, nor is it the 8th euro 328 GTB of the "second serie", nor is it the 8th euro 328 GTB built in 1989... Rgds
82669 (NOT 699? it seems an interversion of numbers took place at one point in the discussion?) is not only a very late US 328 GTB, it is a very late 328 GTB for short, all markets considered. I have only eight others GTBs after this one, all markets included: 82688 (Swiss) 82734 (almost certainly the last UK Berlinetta) 82755 (Lichtenstein) 82755 (Euro) 82793 (Swiss) 82809 (Euro, seen advertised for sale in Belgium in september 2012 with 9.000 miles on the odo) 82906 (last US GTB) 83017 confirmed as the last GTB built in the factory figures. There maybe two or three others still missing, but 82669 is really a very late-production GTB. Rgds
Yes, especially cars build during the last year of the 328 production, which coincided more or less with the year that followed Enzo Ferrari's death (= the US "model-year" 1989). I have not counted the exact number of "time capsule" we have seen popping out the last years, but my guess is that there are still "some" hidden "somewhere". Most, of course, are not on any list. As for "B"s, the last one I remember is 82112, an euro car, french origin (= Pozzi) which was sold four years ago at "FA Automobiles" in Paris, and only had the delivery miles (about 150 kms or 90 miles) on the odo. The pics are still on line here: Ferrari 328 GTB - 328 GTS for sale fa-automobile.com As for color combination, note that she is in the usual "standard" prefered "continental euro" scheme: Rosso Corsa / Black leather (Red carpets variant...)
