2005 430 6spd..... UNBELIEVABLE!

It is sad to say but at this point does anyone truly believe anything a seller says about a car enough to not have it checked out independently? I have bought cars from good people and cars from people I would not have a drink with. Either way I have the car checked out to make sure I know what I am getting. Even sellers with great intentions don't know what may pop up.

 

I don't have a dog in this fight .... But I can't help myself to comment.

Though I understand the frustration and the start of this thread,what I don't understand, Is that a sponsor , car dealer apologized, yet, the mob lynching continues.

It is beyond comprehension to me when I read the remaining posts, I guess an apology means nothing in today's environment, it's all about burning at the stake.

A sad day in the business world when everyone and every company is judged to be 100% at all times. When did perfect become mandatory? Misleading, ok, granted.

I suspect the dealer has learned a valuable lesson, and will move forward to correct their action to better serve his/her clients down the road, but is it really necessary to shame and carry this forward to a higher level all over the web ?

If you don't want to deal with them, just don't buy a car .... Seems simple enough to me.

 

Nick, I'm not going to flame you or pass moral judgement on you. I am/was interested in this car. I was the 2nd guy behind you at exotic classics; if you hadn't wired money that Monday, I was their next call. I probably liked it enough that paying you the 1st mover/flipper premium wouldn't really bother me. You do this for a living. I'm just an enthusiast and don't mind paying a dealer for their services. I've done it many times before. That being said, I'll probably pass on your car now because buying toys like this is a fickle/emotional process. And the approach you took on the forum is enough to cause me to pause and wait for the next one. So, again, I'm not going to pass judgement on you as a human being but I likely will pass on your car. I'm sure you will sell it regardless. But it would have been a QUICK, painless flip with me.

I still think the response the community gave wasn't proportional to the mistake made by the seller, who assumed it, apologised and gracefully left.

Afterall, we're the same community that willingly accepted and encouraged this kind of mindless crap by a seller:

You can't get much lower than that. A seller telling people several times to basically F*** off.

This doesn't even compare and yet all hell broke loose.

I agree with big red. It was a petty mistake on the sellers part, he got freaking lynched for it even after he apologize several times! I don't buy the seller, I buy the car...always do your dd.

Yes. I bought my car from a forum member in Canada. After a few phone calls and emails done deal and no PPI. The car was exactly as described and overall couldn't be happier with the transaction. There are still some trustworthy people out there

I believe this thread should now be locked. I do not want to seem duplicitous since I did post on this thread, but since then the seller has posted and explained himself. Whether that explanation is satisfactory is up to the individual, but whether good/bad it’s not going to change anything at this point.

The thread has achieved its purpose: Namely, rightfully highlighting questionable conduct and helping FChatters who will benefit from this type of warning. I know as a newbie (and even now) anything that helps avoid potential problems is great.

If anyone ever needs to do their due diligence about this seller they can search FChat and this thread will appear giving them notice of past behavior. Beating this to death or lynching the seller at this stage adds little.

We should be thankful to this community for watching out for each other. But I agree, we should move on.

 

i have yet to meet an honest car salesman (who isn't a friend first). probably more rare than an honest politician.

I wonder if ALL OF YOUR BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was held up to this kind of scrutiny what would come of that? What a bunch of jerks, the lot of you!

I thought the guy was annoying, and marketed his cars poorly, but I have to agree that this got out of hand, IMO.

He's a sleezy car dealer, so what? 99% of them are. Isn't that why a PPI is necessary on cars like this?

What I think is hilarious is the two faced circle jerk over 3 pedal cars - one comes up for sale with 8k miles, appears to be pristine, and instead of the expected fawning over the "unicorn" people LOSE THEIR MINDS b/c the guy fluffed the ownership history. A carfax would clear that up.
