    Wow indeed.
Not sure why would they do that. The testarossa 12 is not a more powerfull engine than the 355. If I did that I would think that car for sure needs that glass engine cover.

Oh man! That 12 looks angry in the 355.

    That's a 512M motor, quite a bit more powerful than a 355 motor (434hp)...

Enough to offset the weight and higher center of gravity?

It is different, just doesn't seem worth the effort. (and lack of F1 sound!)

Given a 512M laps fiorano almost as fast as a 355 despite weighing 300lbs more, I think a 512M powered 355 would be quite a bit faster as the motor/transaxle itself is probably only 100lbs more than the v8.

Now would I do it? Probably not, I'd go after the 50hp some other way or a combination of power and weight loss to get it.

Sound wise it's tough to beat a v12 (but if any v8 can, it's the 355), so yeah a sideways move on that.

+275lbs and 1 second behind F355 on fiorano correct? Seems like it would be a wash at best with equal weight but not sure?

It would be interesting to drive just to feel the difference.

The V12 is just a cool factor
If you have a salvaged 355 why not mess with it

The flat 12 FTW! I can't imagine a cooler mod, but the jury is still out.

The TR has so much more torque than the F355 to overcome any weight difference on a short track without a lot of high speed sections of track.

It's not the hp. The 512 motor produces 100 ib/ft greater torque than the 355's V8. You could give the 355 50 more hp and it still would struggle to beat this car (All things else being equal.)

Nah, torque is pretty meaningless on a race track where you're spending most/all of your time above the torque peak. From a roll, yeah, but not when you're winding the motor out to redline every gear.

I think a 355 with 50 more hp would beat a TR engined 355 pretty easily given less weight and lower CoG, the torque just doesn't matter much, especially with the tighter gearing of the 355 transaxle. It would probably cost you as much or more than the TR motor to get 50 more HP out of the 355, though.

Don't know the layout of the track but if it has a lot of turns and short straights, torque out of the corners is going to help a TR over a 355 I think.

    thanks for the input.
please offer the exact specs of your rims and tires.
rim dimensions, offsets front/rear and tire sizes.

indeed yours look to fit perfect.
but no one has really ever confirmed a safe go to setup for 19s on a 355.

Just appears to be air filter pods over the throttle bodies (likely with velocity stacks inside).

Can only be accomplished with aftermarket engine management as the maf sensors are deleted.

Seems inlet air temps would be a bit toasty but maybe that particular engine deemed it necessary? Not sure.

Group77racing has a pretty bad ass looking velocity stack/clear plenum setup if you're looking to change the looks of the engine.
