Rob, That's true, I'll give you that. Although to be fair, in some cases/circumstances, telling someone to f*** off repeatedly can also result in a law suit This. The biggest lesson we can draw from all this. We're lucky to be part of Ferrari Chat and this story with this 430 is a great example. Kind regards, Nuno.
Geez...some of you guys on here take this WAY too serious...and the majority of you probably don't/haven't owned a Ferrari. Keyboard cowboys. Step away from the computer, get out of the house, get laid, chill out...whew.
A certain 948 owner omits a detail from an ad, then refuses to satisfy the curiosity of a bunch of people who had no interest in his car, and receives a vicious lashing for over a 1000 posts. Given the subject herein involves an outright falsehood to cover up being outed on another claim, this thread is tame, IMO.
You cannot expect to not get some backlash when you list a car as personal when you owned it for two weeks and more than likely didn't drive it at all. And thats the problem here. I would've respected/understood him if he said that he purchased the car looking to flip it. Thats what dealers do. They buy and sell cars. None of us like to be lied to. The irony of it all is that car would have sold itself (forget about the tan dash ) His attitude didn't do him any favors either. Conduct is very important, even more so when you're trying to sell $100k+ cars.
At 43 posts I don't see any meaningful contribution to this community or any personal information filled in your personal profile, no personal Ferraris identified, not a verified owner and not subscribed. Way to go. You beat me to it, James! Kind regards, Nuno.
There are some people here with their panties in a wad for no reason. The guy sells cars for a living, AFAIK he has always been open about that. What difference does it make if it was his personal car for 2 weeks, 2 months, or 2 years? People have situations change all the time that requires a realignment of priorities. Maybe when the car was purchased he intended it to be his personal drive, but for whatever reason he changed his mind sooner rather than later. In the B&I section you would say that was a smart move to cut your losses and move on rather than throwing good money after bad, but since he is selling a car suddenly the guy's behavior is shady? Holy hell a few of you need to get a grip.
Not that it matters, but i have been on this site longer than you both, and through experience I have seen worse situations that were never called out....... many "new" owners that have purchased cars ready for the dumpster comes to mind. These new users then used fchat and the ferrari community for free advice, and cheap solutions to only flip a car a year later with titles such as " need to sell my baby" for one of the many BS reasons. Yet, those were accepted. A dealer who is also a sponsor and in the community more than just a one hit wonder makes an error ( too many ) and flipping a car ( making a living ) and is crucified because some people beleive his approach is "shady" I will agree, the approach to sell the car was not ideal, and he/she has illustrated remorse, and apologized, that should be enough. Who really got hurt in this ? Was the witch hunt worth it ? How does this help our community? No business model is ever 100% perfect, and in a free market , price will be dictated in the market space. I understand not appreciating his approach, but I don't understand the many pages of users jumping on and gangbanging this business. If he didn't apologize, I would understand the anger/witch hunt and negative posts. I really can't imagine how this thread would have transformed if this sponsor didn't acknowledge his errors. I for one can respect his decision to apologize and take the pill and man up, that says more to me about their character than flip flopping on the description of the car.
When a dealer or whomever says he's selling his "personal" car, he implies that: -the car was more carefully looked after than the standard inventory car -the owner knows much more about the car's history than he does about the standard inventory car Calling it a personal car because he owned it himself for two weeks is disingenuous, at best. Based on the reaction, I believe most would go further and call it deception. He "apologizes." I didn't perceive his apologies as sincere. An "I'm sorry, geez! Get over it! Leave me alone!" doesn't demonstrate true contriteness. In the middle of his "apology," he claimed that the car is off the market and will be kept. Meanwhile, all listings on other platforms remained up and were in some cases actively renewed. Finally (and it's from within this context that I believe the majority of the negative response originates), he snatched a rare and desirable car off of the market and marked it up. That's absolutely well within his right, and it's the right of others to resent him for it. I think this thread serves a meaningful role in helping existing/prospective sponsors understand how to do business on FerrariChat.
This is probably the most accurate part. People need to understand they are potential trying to buy a car, not a new best friend.
Your factual statements not withstanding, he does have a valid point. And I petition that his suspension be commuted to time served.
Perhaps these are idle questions but... Why does anyone care if a car is flipped or not? Why do any of us care is a car was personally owned or owned only by companies of one type or another? There are honest, and dishonest people AND honest and dishonest companies. When buying a car from any of the 4 (though hopefully only honest of either) caveat emptor should be applied. So in many ways I think the outrage is perhaps fake, or certainly overdone. I haven't seen anything in RiteDrive's behavior that would alter how I would approach buying this car.
Yes I saw that. Your post quoted AlfistaPortoghese in reference to JWeilan so I didn't see the connection with that and your petition.
Exactly! His apology was far from genuine. It's apparent a few here are incredibly gullible to say the least.
Yup, how do all these gullible people make it through life, I'm surprised these people have enough money to pay for their Internet bill to post.
Awe...I'm sorry boo...are you getting your feelings hurt because I prefer anonymity? Forgive me if I neither feel the need to spend my day on Ferrari Chat, nor spilling my personal onto the net. For all you know I hold the keys to a 250 GTO, a McLaren F1 GTR, and a Bugatti Type 57. But there's the key...you'll never know. This is a public forum and I have the choice to offer as much or little personal information as I see fit. You give your opinion the same as I, and you choose whether or not to get your panties in a bunch if I say something you disagree with. So how about taking that stick out of your backside, and try to not take things so seriously that you read on the internet.
At the end of the day he did apologize. However I'm not sure that apologizing when your backed into a corner is good enough to over look blatant deceit. I would not allow any of my sales people off the hook if I caught them being dishonest to a customer. At the end of the day all we have is our reputation. I would imagine many of us built our companies and moved up the latter based on being honest and hard working. I joined this site to learn as much as I can about Ferraris so I can intelligently realize a dream I've had my entire life. I applaud the members of this forum that will not tolerate this behavior from a sponsor. You guys did me a favor.
