Hi, I went back to the car after the hammer went down to see if I could see the new owner. 2 guys came and had there photo taken. As the day was running late they could not talk for long (they did apologies) as they had to leave to get there flight home. I did not ask, but as mentioned, the cost would be high to (correctly) respray etc. So I guess it was a private sale? Would they be a profit in it if it were a dealer?

On another subject: is anyone going to the Goodwood Members Meeting in 2 weeks time?

    Cheers all,
    Richard

Hi Bal, hope all is well? It was a really nice day. I went with Dad and the weather was really nice. I wanted to check out a 2000 quartoporte 3.2 twin turbo, but it was withdrawn...
There was a Merak, really bad, full of water, rust - likely to have been round the clock, accident damage- with a hammer price of £18,000
Excuse me, as the following is not Maserati talk, but there was a nice solid Porsche 914, that went for a hammer price of £9000, I don't know anything about these cars so kept my hand down despite what dad said....

Thanks Rich. I am still struggling to understand how he can justify that price for a RHD car which needs a respray and new interior plus shipping to Germany. Its also not been driven or serviced for 8 years. The Euro is very weak now so the price in Euro's was the almost the same as the t-top car in Paris last month. I watched him bid for it and it was clear he wasn't messing about and had come to win it almost at any price. Very odd when Marc has a better LHD car for sale in Paris at a cheaper price.

It's nice to see the values increasing for these magnificent cars.

I wonder if Maserati's current push to be a bigger player in the market is giving the older Maseratis more visibility and lifting the prices?

For me, AM120-US-1044 is long gone. (I need a new F-Chat name). Unfortunately for me and a few others, I am quite likely priced out of owning a Khamsin ever again. But it's okay. I'm happy for those of you who already own one.

Hi, Yes I agree. This makes me think is was a private buyer. Surely there is not a profit left in it after a bare metal re-spray and interior works etc?

Likely a private buyer with domicilium at one of the channel islands or a house in South Africa? Many possible scenarios.

    Best,

    Jack.

    Very quiet here!

Finally got some K-time in, and yes, it took a 5-foot breaker-bar and a big vice to get the cam-nuts off.
Question for those who were there already: How far did you find the assembly-marks off, if any at all?

    Best,

    Jack.

    Hi Jack,

For my part I have been quiet here because I ...huh...have found my dream Khamsin in high heels so the Khamsins on tires have to wait a while:)

Creatures in Louboutins have more power than those on Michelins;-)

[FYI to the hopeless grease monkey brigade who never emerge from their engine bay Louboutins are not tires but the ultra fashionable high heels that glamorous ladies like to prance in, not that I care about fashion]

Good luck with your work on your car, plenty of techies here to advise you as you know:)

    Best regards,

    Marc

    Hey Marc!

So you have your head in the clouds, enjoy it! I bet those stiletto's still make you think of the foot-rest for the passenger in the Khamsin.

    Best,

    Jack.

They do come up like that once in a while; two other silver ones, one in California in 2012 and one, also a US version was for sale by an Italian dealer a couple of years ago, both almost as bad.

Typical of Gullwing I called them yesterday to get the chassis number and twice the line was cut and the third time I was put on hold, , will email them, some things never change:) They can't be accused of having good manners but they certainly have an ability to source barnfinds.

This one is the scariest I have seen in a long time though, apart of 1092 the dismantled project with parts missing recently for sale in Portugal but that is now being restored in Holland by a shop handling the restoration of 136 and 1300 as well so they know what they are doing:)

    Best regards,

    Marc

    Hi Marc,

    1977 Maserati Khamsin -

The good news with GMC is that there is plenty of room for bargaining built into their asking price.

I'll try to go have a look at it later this week, maybe not until Saturday. Then post some photos and details, engine and chassis numbers, mileage showing, where it was titled, etc.. My guess is that it's not running.

    Carmine

PS: I'm very happy to hear that you have found a focus beyond cars for your great passion and wish you much happiness. Is another novel forthcoming?

    Hi Carmine!

Good to hear from you, hope all is well.

I just sent them an email 30 minutes ago which should get an answer but if it does not then your help is most welcome thanks:)

And yes very much so...plus she is 30% Italian and as hot tempered as a car made in Modena;-)

I am finishing the layout of the edited, improved commercial version of the medieval novel you read (yes with the horse called Khamsin:)), it will be out in a few weeks as E book and print on demand.

After that towards the end of the year there will be a modern day novel.

    All the best to you,

    Marc

Gull Wing Khamsin already sold. Good news for Khamsin owners. Wonder what it went for?

    Hi Carmine, all,

Here is the answer I got from Gullwing:

    "Hello Marc,
I apologize for that. The silver car's chassis number is AM120US1164 and the red one was AM1201304.

    Thank You,
    Anthony Stella"

    End of quote

Both sold. Don't know to whom or for how much yet. While 1164 was scary indeed 1304, see for yourself is also a scarecrow in its very own way! An extremely late chassis number, great to see two emerge from the errr...battle trenches...

    Best regards,

    Marc

Both five speeds. Harder to find over here.

Good luck to the new owners. Hopefully they show up on this forum soon.

Yes probably matching numbers and used in rally cross or roller derby from the looks of it:)

I am expecting more info on them, will share.

    Hi Jack.
To be honest I would have checked the lift before going to the trouble. Did you remove the cams via the links?
The assembly marks are just that. The cams set up properly are anything up to the width of the mark on the cap out.
If you are doing this for the first time the hand book instructions are reasonable.
Keep us up to date with progress.
    Graeme
