Great post Wtdoom - I really enjoyed reading that. I will pass along to a friend of mine who just bought a 918. MDS
Congratulations on taking delivery of the 918 Wtdoom! Car looks very fast out of the corners! Hope you can find some more willing p1/laf owners!
Just WoW, 100X better than some boring magazines tests Thank You So Lot Doom! And a special thanks to sharing your experience!!
Everyone in this thread needs to buy a carrera gt now while they're under 800k, i'm sure they'll reach parity or be worth more than an enzo (going for 2 mil now) eventually. Maybe in 25 years.
Starts slow clap.. Finally, a worthwhile post in this mostly dreadful bickering fest. Well done WT, beatifully stated.
Great writeup of your experience with the 918 at speed! Have you thought of creating any short videos of your new track weapon?
Doom, Great write up, one of the best in a while. Thanks for posting it up. Got to love the 918. It's good to know Porsche still makes real deal super cars. -F
Post of the year my friend, post of the year! Can't wait to go out on track with you again, next time I have to get a ride in the CGT!
I for one have said this for a decade now. The MIGHTY Carrera GT is hands down the best road going car EVER created by man. And with regulations, it will certainly stay this way. . the end
THIS. IS. BRILLIANT. (and the result is no surprise either. I rate the CGT as the greatest sports car of all time.)
@WT Doom As stated previously: Brilliantly written and surmised Mr. Doom (along with the driving exploits). Congrats, and keep it coming!! PS: So you did drive the 918 to Spa, then track it? I apologize if anyone had asked this previously. But what was it like driving the 918 on the road those distances (if you did)? Were all the creature comforts as rewarding and exciting as you mentioned in your prose? How do you compare it to some of the other high performance/exotic/collectible cars you've driven that type of distance (since you so documented your track exploits on a damp surface that day)? Note: I'm speaking about the total package of the power, torque, creature comforts, open top, etc. Was it really that enjoyable? Or you were just waxing poetic for our sake (or others-LOL), or the fact that it's there when you want it? Thanks and enjoy!!
Totally agree with you. CGT is one of the most exciting and probabile the most exciting and "drivable" at the same. Also Ferrari has a good exciting car...f40 but is different from CGT. Wtdoom, Maxige, Manuma do you think in the same way for the Enzo respect to LaF?? And Maxige can you let me know how faster (just in progression) is LaF than F40? Thanks and congrats for the videos!
After all the dribble in this thread, I like where it went here. PS: If Chris Harris is listening, please PLEASE get a hold of a CGT for a quick shoot.
And yes (as if needed to be said), the Carrera GT sounds like an actual living, breathing, snorting/angry, while at the same time melodious sounding animal!! Just an incredible machine. Nice to see both the LaFe and 918 on the track as well.
So did several owners. It's to be expected being that they are mid-engine cars and no doubt use a lot of the same underlying technology, albeit further refined. The 918 would as well if Porsche had a mid-engine exotic.

Hmm, damp track, 2wd vs AWD, condition of the tires, hardly conclusive, last September it looked a little different: http://youtu.be/O1EjXrFoOE4
