Hi fellow Ferrari owners. This is my first thread on Ferrari Chat. I purchased my first Ferrari this year in BC and plan to ship it to NS so am looking for information on good car shipping companies you may have used in the past and that you would recommend?

    Thanks

    Ken

Ken I'd call Adam at TFX International. He is the official carrier of Ferrari North America and a sponsor here on this site. Beat him down on price and tell him that Marlon sent you. He can be reached at 1-888-415-3158. He is a bit more expensive but he doesn't sub out the work like everyone else does (put that in writing). Good-Luck and congrats on the new purchase!

You could also try Thorsons out of Toronto, 416-742-0854.

They are the official carrier for Porsche and they do regular round trips between the Halifax port and Vancouver.

    Used Mackie and Thorsons.

Had incidents happen with BOTH companies and they REFUSED to pay for the damages they did. Will never do business with either again.

    Only use TFX

Couldn't be happier with TFX, had two corvettes shipped out last week from Hamilton safe and sound but three days early. Great company and easy to get a hold of reps.

I have used Hansen's Forwarding. Drove it to their depot, goes on the train, picked up from their rail depot on arrival.

i had TFX bring a car up from Georgia, the transit and border crossing service was ok, but they did not call me when the car had arrived in Canada, and every body panel had a scratch or a ding in it somewhere [none of which were there when the car left Georgia] ... they didn't want to do anything about it, said 'sign the release or the car stays here'

used Mackies on the next one and it was PERFECT, they delivered it right to the door, the guy arrived on time with a great big smile, i couldn't have been happier

both charged the same price, i'll stick with Mackies until they screw up

Use someone with rail options. In the past you could book directly with CN or CP rail, but now they want you to use an agent. Rail is safer then truck. Its also less money. I shipped a BMW from Vancouver to Toronto via rail. No damage. They load only once, a truck can load and unload the car several times on route to the destination. More chances of damage. Rail is also enclosed. Some of the trucking shippers have been known to subcontract the car to rail anyway. So you might as well cut out the extra truck expense.
