That was probably after he got rid of his and prior to having another one for sale...cause we all know, if there is one to be sold..its the best there ever was :)

The interior of the car we just delivered was very nice indeed as shown in post 1185, the person who inspected it said the seats looked like they had never been sat in.

Yes, the interior of the car I owned (027/150) was terrible! They made these cars in batches of a dozen or so and the variances are plain to see. Initially, I assumed it was because the factory at that time had poor quality-control (I believe this was the case under Megatech's ownership), but later on I wondered whether it was because someone took apart some of the interior for some reason in the interim during which my car sat around for over a year or more with Lamborghini USA before it was sold to me as a new car in 1997.

To be specific, the issues were that if I parked the car outside in the sun, the loud squeaking caused by rubbing from the now-expanded composite panels & leather upholstery was so bad it took away from the driving experience. One (small) window-winder failed, and the center-console was clearly out-of-alignment and towards the passenger-side. Additionally, trim pieces around the lower dashboard were so askew they looked unprofessionally finished, and trim pieces on the gearshift-knob and around the shift gate literally fell-off! Knowing Lamborghini from my experience with many Miuras & Countachs, of course I knew that it was unlikely they were all like this. I just wasn't lucky enough to get a "good one", although I have heard that 027 has received much care in recent times. I replaced it with an F40 in 1998, which may have underscored my feelings.

The car we just delivered was gone through from bumper-to-bumper and fettled, finessed, adjusted, and refurbished wherever necessary literally on a no-expense-spared basis. The specialist who did the work (who might be reading this) should be proud. The other car we have has gone through the same exercise to the same effect.

My personal SE30 experience did not meet my expectations at the time, but I didn't write them off as a result. Great cars, especially with some TLC!

Indeed, Megatech was only there for the short-term to make a few bucks and move on.

In early 1994 Tommy Suharto purchased the Lamborghini brand for $40 million, and then sold it to VW/Audi AG in 1998 for $110 million.

Audi on the other hand tool a long-term perspective, and as Juergen Pieper, car analyst with Deutsche Morgan Grenfell said, "it's a small price to pay to improve Audi's image and prestige". I think its worked.

You know who was bidding against Audi for control of Lamborghini in 1998 that may have ended up owners? General Electric Capital Corporation and Texas Pacific Group!

    TPG was also bidding?
I think Megatech sold it due to Asian crisis in 1998 where the Indonesian Rupiah fell -500% to USD and the Soeharto era ended.

BTW I've seen that pic but unfortunately none of the SE30 cars were imported by Tommy to Indonesia. There's even that Yellow RHD SE30 with interior roll cage which I thought belongs to him but it wasn't.

The car Tommy was sitting in for the portrait above was a yellow pre-production car, below.

Here is 027 when new, http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/136333082-post122.html noted in Jan 1996, and it didn't sell till May 1997, so it sat around for 1.5 years till it sold to me, as I said.

I drove it 2,800kms and sold it, here it is much later with some parts missing http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/136256326-post5.html. I should also report that the pedals were badly tarnished and the door windows were de-laminated from new.

Nº 030/150 again for sale in Norway. This SE ticks all the right boxes. Factory base model Jota, in Lambo Thirty over blue alcantara; 400 speedometer, Jota badge and original racing harness; upgraded brake system; custom steering wheel; built for client Giuliano Righini (related to Mario Righini?) in 1994 (Countach, LM002, Diablo VT, Diablo Roadster and F1 Minardi Lamborghini owner during the '90's). Also previously owned by a fellow forum member, not to forget :). Asking ± 800K Euro, 22.000kms

Lamborghini Diablo SE30 *Jota* : TJ Auto

Mr. Righini in 1995 at the Misano Circuit ('95 YB)

The steering wheel is a post-production aftermarket application, correct?

Perhaps I could have answered my own question about the steering wheel, is this the same 030/150 in these images?

    Diablo_4_Ever,

What is the significance of the Diablo SE30 (1995) Electrical System ending at SE 079/150?

In other words, what improvement/advancement/upgrade was made for cars after number 079, or, why do the remaining 70 cars (080 to 150) have a different set of part numbers for their Electrical System?

Interestingly, here below is that very cutoff car, number 079 built especially for David Cheung of Hong Kong.

    Thanks for sharing.

So in reality, 030/150 has had quite a varied life in several guises.

Since buying the car I bought a couple of magazines with reviews on the se30 what surprised me was the good comments on the brakes, that is the area in cars were the biggest upgrade has been in the las 15 years, it always amazes me how bad all car prior to that are

I believe Mr. Righini might have used it on the track indeed, which could explain the different steering wheel; which was most likely installed by the factory itself (possibly post-production) as he was a well-known client, but maybe a previous owner can confirm this.

I am not sure why they changed the electrical system; as far as I know there are no performance differences between the pre and post #079 cars
