Toying with the idea of getting 16's for my '77 308 GTB, any opinions on shipping from Superformance in the UK would be appreciated (Quality, customer service if you have issues with condition at delivery, etc).

Superformance is outstanding and you can often get your parts faster than dealing with domestic vendors. I have used them for years and have always had excellent experiences.

I ordered a set for my previous 2v, the shipping was fast and with the exchange rate and direct sale, it was definitely cheaper than buying them stateside.

Appreciate the feedback, domestic quote was significantly more - Will give them a try.

Unless something has changed, when these wheels were discussed here a few years ago, it was noted that a set of 4 of these wheels are actually 4 "front" wheels, they hadn't yet developed a separate manufacturing process or mold to replicate the OEM 16" rear wheels.

Thought I'd mention for your consideration so you aren't surprised later on. I don't know if this has changed since, so you may want to ask them.

Got them on my '81 GTSi.

Only half correct. The design of the rear matches the front ones, the width however is the proper 8" Only the experts see the difference at first glance

Correct, when you get close to them or if you know what to look for it becomes obvious. I have just swapped out my 328 wheels for a set of '78 16s Speedlines. They where an option in '78 and even though my car is a '77, I had to have the 16s. My 328 wheels are available if anyone needs them.

I bought a set for my '77 directly from them, and was completely satisfied with the process. Be sure to get the centering rings for the front wheels to avoid vibration, otherwise no worries.

Regarding the wheels themselves there are TONS of threads about them with photos, discussions, and specs covering anything you would ever want to know about them. Search and you will find all you want on the subject.

As an owner of these wheels I can tell you that I am well pleased with them, they look very close to original and yes the rears are slightly different but again you need to have it pointed out. The nice thing is that they are very reasonably priced and are a quality product devoid of the Ferrari 'tax' that opens up your tire selection to modern 16" options.

Personally, I dont think 16s look right on a '77.

Personally I am the exact opposite.

I think the TRX set left too much of the wheel well open. It just doesn't look right to me. Huge holes, doughnut small wheels/tires.

    To each their own. :)

But from a driving standpoint it's a great improvement, plus modern tires.

I will do exactly that when my 16" speedlines come back from the shop redoing them. (I will keep my 328 rims however)
I do like the 328 wheels on the 308 but they served as a nice substitute as getting originals seemed impossible. Until last fall:):):)

    Yep!

To save on all the back and fourth off topic comments, I believe George meant to say 16" wheels provide a different experience from the 14" wheels.

Exactly! I really do love the look of the 14s. If my car was for show, I would put the 14s back on.

Thats perfect! I was just deciding between buying 16's or spending $500 per tire to replace the 14's. These pics really helped.

    Thanks
